| Mental health problems in China are becoming increasingly serious.Since the outbreak of COVID-19,people’ s life and work have been seriously affected,making the number of people suffering from mental diseases continue to rise.Therefore,seeking efficient therapies and professional psychotherapists has become the key to solving the problem.Comparatively speaking,foreign research on psychotherapy is more forward-looking and in-depth than domestic research.Therefore,it is of great practical significance and referential value to carry out translation practice in the field of psychotherapy.This report is based on Chapters 3 and 4 of the latest book Evidence-Based Treatment for Anxiety Disorders and Depression: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Compendium by many experts in the field of cognitive behavioral therapy around the world.It mainly discusses how to use cognitive behavioral therapy to treat various mental diseases such as anxiety disorder,obsessive-compulsive disorder,social disorder and depression.The focus of Chapters 3 and 4 is to introduce the treatment of specific phobias and panic disorders,and systematically provide a variety of effective treatment methods and interventions under the framework of cognitive behavioral therapy.The source text belongs to the medical text,which is clear and logical.Due to the differences between Chinese and English languages,there are many problems in the translation process,the main core of which is whether the translator can correctly understand the source text and accurately convey the source content to the target readers.Relevance Translation Theory regards translation as a communicative act and believes that the essence of translation is an ostensive-inferential process in which the translator plays the dual role of the listener and the speaker,so as to convey the intention of the original author to the target readers in an optimal way and achieve successful communication.Therefore,based on the Relevance Translation Theory,this report analyzes how to solve the problems caused by the differences between languages in the process of translation from the three levels of lexical,syntax and discourse,and summarizes the translation methods to deal with relevance,such as choosing or interpreting the meanings of word,adjusting word order,converting semicolons,dividing long sentences,restructuring complex sentences,restoring the actual meaning of pronouns,supplementing connectives,merging related sentences and unifying style,in order to achieve the optimal relevance between the source text and the target text.It is hoped that this report can provide translation methods for text translation in related fields,and also provide reference materials for researchers,therapists and students of related majors. |
