| The nineteenth-century Europe ushered in innovation and prosperity in the field of art with the rise of the French political movement.Paul Cézanne was a representative painter of French Post-Impressionism,and his artistic vision and innovative ideas had greatly influenced on Western art in the twentieth century.He dedicated his life to discovering the true nature of the natural world.He held the view that the harmony between art and nature may be achieved via steady order and creative expression.The majority of Cézanne’s life’s work was landscape painting.In the numerous art schools,he revolutionized the composition of shapes and color brushstrokes,carving out a distinct approach and reaching a crude and authentic portrayal of natural things.Contemporary painters continue to draw heavily on the ideas and methods of Cézanne while creating landscape paintings.One of these was Mount Saint-Victoire,which is a recurrent theme throughout his life and depicted in various stages of his artistic development.The Mount Saint-Victoire series,which symbolizes the pinnacle of Cézanne’s creative career and condenses his research of natural subjects,is a key indicator to categorize painting language of Cézanne’s artistic landscape.This paper examines the artistic language of Cézanne’s landscapes in the context of the Mount Saint-Victoire series.To begin,it provides background information on Cézanne’s time and his biography as well as an explanation of the reasons behind the Mount SaintVictoire series’ distinctive style.The author then discusses Cézanne’s landscape painting language,starting with the influence of the investigation of water-based materials on the Mount Saint-Victoire series,the deconstruction and reorganization of nature,the highly generalized use of color and brushstroke.Furthermore,the author examines the aesthetic ideas in Cézanne’s landscapes,beginning with three ideas: the inner pursuit,the observation perspective,the connection between color and shape,and gives an explanation of the spiritual significance of Cézanne’s landscapes.Finally,the author discusses the inspiration she has found in studying the painting language of Cézanne’s landscapes applies the perceived aesthetic ideas,viewing method,and formal language to her artistic practice. |
