The arrival of Gu Yanwu,Fu Shan,and other Ming widows sparked a renewed interest in Han stele stone carvings among scholars.This led to a surge in the study of epigraphy and the examination of evidence.Many calligraphers also became involved in the search for inscriptions,engaging in appreciation activities and practicing their skills by studying gold and stone inscriptions.Han stele became increasingly prominent in the public eye,and its unique and diverse styles were highly valued by scholars.The number of Han steles can be categorized according to writing fonts into seal steles and subordinate steles.Although there are far fewer Han dynasty steles than Han seals,this does not diminish the importance of Han steles in the art of steles.Based on existing stele picture data,the writing style of Han steles can be divided into several categories.First,the seal is mixed,resulting in a unique and ingenious style.Second,the strokes flow with a left and right momentum.Third,the strokes are thin and hard,with an ancient and simple appearance.Fourth,the style is square-based,dignified and solemn.In addition to the use of some seal subordinate structures,the Han Dynasty subordinate stele also employs a wide range of exaggerated and varied expression techniques,using flexible lines and na?ve and lively elements,creating a harmonious and vivid effect.Han Dynasty official script inscription has a very rich expression,which later Qing Dynasty calligraphers in the creation practice provided "inspiration".This article covers four main areas related to the development of epigraphy in China.In the first part,the author describes how the popularity of epigraphy in the Qing Dynasty led to the discovery of golden stone tablets from the pre-Qin and Han dynasties,which sparked an interest in the field.Moving on to the second part,the article discusses the research conducted by Qing Dynasty scholars on the calligraphy of steles.Specifically,it provides an overview of the existing Han steles and the perspectives of notable stele theorists such as Bao Shichen,Kang Youwei,and Wan Jing.The third part delves into the artistic characteristics and classification of Han stele styles.The article explores the distinct features of these steles and examines how they were evaluated by scholars during the Qing Dynasty.Finally,the fourth part of the article focuses on the impact of Han stele style on the calligraphy of Qing Dynasty scholars.The author analyzes the calligraphy and seal carving works of prominent calligraphers such as Deng Shiru,Yi Bingshou,Huang Yi,and Wu Rangzhi,to demonstrate how they creatively incorporated the Han stele style into their own works.This section highlights the lasting influence of Han steles on calligraphy and seal carving during the Qing Dynasty. |
