On The Creation Of Films With The Theme Of Split Personality

Since Freud founded psychoanalysis,foreign film production institutions have seen the great market opportunity and potential of applying this theory to films,and countless excellent films with psychoanalysis have emerged in the short development process of film history.The theme of personality split is a common theme in this type of film and television dramas.The films with the theme of personality split are mostly related to the type of thriller.This paper analyzes the films with split personality from three aspects:theme,narration and audio-visual.Firstly,in terms of theme expression,through the definition of the term "split personality" and Lacan’s mirror theory,this paper extends the criticism of social phenomena or reveals the inner trauma of characters in the films with split personality,so as to call for self-improvement;Secondly,in the narrative presentation,through the discussion of the film narrative structure,it is concluded that the films with the theme of personality division mostly adopt multi-line narrative and open ending,leaving the audience with imagination space;Finally,in the audio-visual presentation,dramatic light,contrasting colors and representative voices are used to promote the development of the story and express the inner emotions of the characters.Through the text analysis of classic films on the theme of personality division at home and abroad and my graduation works,this paper summarizes the quite unique creative techniques of such films,including theme expression,narrative presentation and audio-visual analysis.I hope it can provide some reference for the creation of such films.
