A Study On The Planarized Formal Language Of Contemporary Watercolor Painting

As an independent painting,watercolor painting has been introduced into China for more than a hundred years.After the continuous development and innovation of countless excellent local artists,it has got rid of the status of small painting and become a popular and influential painting.The language of contemporary watercolor painting shows a trend of diversification,and there are great breakthroughs in aesthetic form and aesthetic taste.The independence and particularity of watercolor art language are also strengthened.In the creative trend of adapting to contemporary innovation,change and development,grasping the formal language of watercolor painting is particularly important for guiding artists ’ creation.As a tendentious feature of modern and contemporary painting,the development and application of planarized formal language in other major paintings is quite mature,but it still belongs to the field of minority in watercolor painting.However,in recent years,in the national art exhibition and other art associations,the emergence of some non-realistic works with plane form characteristics has injected fresh blood into Chinese watercolor painting.Planar formal language is a way of artistic expression that truly reflects the world.Studying the planar formal language helps to get rid of the trap of watercolor painting creation practice,break through the shackles of traditional watercolor painting on objective reproduction of reality,so that creators can freely and subjectively express their thoughts and concepts,and realize the breakthrough and innovation of watercolor painting ’s own language with a historical,dynamic and developing vision and artistic pattern.This paper takes the planar formal language of contemporary watercolor painting as the research object.Firstly,it defines the concept of planar formal language,and then expounds the original form of planar formal language from the perspective of the development of art history.Then it studies the motivation of the formation of watercolor painting flat form language in China.Chinese contemporary watercolor painting flat form language is influenced by Chinese traditional art concept,western modern art trend and image information age.The focus of this paper is to analyze the specific ways and types of language expression in the plane form of watercolor painting according to the case of the work,which is divided into four directions : space,composition,shape and color.Finally,the contemporary artistic value of watercolor painting flat form language is considered and summarized.
