Mindfulness is a state of consciousness produced by focusing attention on the present moment, allowing attention to consciously point to the current goal, and accepting various thoughts and experiences at this moment without judgment and actively.Numerous studies have shown that mindfulness can reduce the response to negative emotions in healthy individuals and patients with mood disorders, thereby reducing the likelihood of impulsive and aggressive behaviors in healthy individuals and patients with mood disorders.Response inhibition ability refers to the ability of an individual to inhibit inappropriate behavior in a specific environment, which is closely related to impulsive behavior and aggressive behavior.Combining the previous research results, this study adopts the dual-choice oddball task paradigm to explore whether and how the level of mindfulness and emotion interact with individual response inhibition from the perspective of behavioral indicators.Study 1 used a double-choice oddball task with 50 subjects as the research object, and adopted a two-factor mixed experimental design of 2(group: high mindfulness group, low mindfulness group)× 2(trial type: standard stimulus, deviation stimulus).Using error rate and reaction time as dependent variables to explore the effect of mindfulness level on individual response inhibition. The results of study 1 showed that the main effect of trial type was significant, and the response time of the deviation stimulus was significantly greater than that of the standard stimulus, indicating that the double-choice oddball task paradigm adopted in the experiment was effective and successfully induced the inhibitory response of the subjects. The interaction between trial type and group was marginally significant in response time.Compared with the low mindfulness group, the difference in response time between the biased stimulus and the standard stimulus was smaller in the high mindfulness group. This shows that the response inhibition ability of the high mindfulness group is stronger than that of the low mindfulness group.Study 2 examined whether and how mindfulness affects response inhibition under different emotional conditions(positive, neutral, and negative emotions)on the basis of Study 1.Study 2 took 54 subjects as the research objects, using 2(group: high mindfulness group, low mindfulness group)× 2(trial type: standard stimulus, deviation stimulus)× 3(emotion type: neutral, positive, negative emotional conditioning)three-factor mixed experimental design, with error rate and reaction time as dependent variables to explore how mindfulness level and emotion interact with individuals’ response inhibition ability. The results showed that in response time, the interaction between group, trial type and emotion was marginally significant. The analysis found that under positive emotion conditions, the interaction between group and trial type was significant;in neutral emotion conditions and negative emotion emotional condition, trial type was significant but the interaction between group and trial type was not significant. In the positive emotion condition, compared with the low mindfulness group, the high mindfulness group had a greater difference in the response time evoked by the deviant stimulus and the standard stimulus under the positive emotion condition, while in the neutral emotion condition and the negative emotion condition, the deviation Differences between stimulus and standard stimulus were similar in the low and high mindfulness groups. The above results suggest that positive emotion impairs response inhibition in the high mindfulness group compared to the low mindfulness group. |
