| The translator takes section four to six in Chapter two of Tea in the Frontier :Tea Tracing in Mengku as translation material,and Professor Hu Gengshen’s eco-translatology as the theoretical guidance.Combined with typical cases in translation practice,the translator aims at finding out translation strategies and methods for travel notes.In this book,the author introduces the unique tea culture,ethnic culture and custom in Mengku in the form of travel notes based on the author’s observations in this area.The section four to six of Chapter two of this book mainly introduces tea culture and tea-related things in Zhengqitang,Bingshan and Gongnong.This chapter involves a large number of culture-loaded words,tea terminology,and flexible sentence structures and furthermore,as a kind of science popularization text of tea culture,the translation should be faithful,expressive and elegant,so it is difficult to translate.This book is a travelogue text about Mengku tea in Yunnan,which belongs to both informative and expressive texts.Given that Hu Gengshen’s eco-translatology fully integrates the accuracy of text content and the translator’s initiative,the translator intends to use this theory as the theory guidance of this translation practice.The core concepts of Hu Gengshen’s eco-translatology mainly include translation eco-environment,adaptation and selection,and three-dimensional transformation.Translation eco-environment includes eco-environment of language,culture,society and many other aspects;Adaptation and selection refers to the process in which translators actively meet the needs of the eco-environment and integrate ecological resources through active selection;The three-dimensional transformation includes the transformation in linguistic dimension,cultural dimension,and communicative dimension.Based on the theory of eco-translatology proposed by Hu Gengshen,the author makes some analysis on typical cases.In the linguistic dimension,the author makes appropriate dynamic and static conversion as well as hypotactic and paratactic conversion.In the cultural dimension,the author adopts methods such as finding equivalent expressions and adding annotations to overcome language barriers.In the communicative dimension,omission and supplementation,semantic conversion,and other methods are adopted.It is expected to provide some reference for other translators who make researches on the C-E translation of travel note texts,as well as draw attentions of people at home and abroad to Yunnan Mengku tea. |
