Butterfly binding is a sign that ancient Chinese books have entered the form of book binding.It was popular in the Song and Yuan dynasties and was the mainstream form of book binding in the Song and Yuan dynasties.The engraving industry was developed in the Song Dynasty,especially in the Southern Song Dynasty,which had a huge amount of engraving books and exquisite engraving marks,and had a unique aesthetic style and quality,which established the basic aesthetic style of Chinese ancient block printing books.In terms of binding technology,materials,engraving and printing technology,the Song Dynasty butterfly binding books all reflect the unique aesthetics of the two Song Dynasties and have rich artistic and historical value.Therefore,this paper chooses the popular butterfly binding books in Song Dynasty for theoretical and practical research.Firstly,it combs the historical origin and evolution of the form of butterfly binding.Secondly,it analyzes the binding technology,material technology characteristics,as well as the layout art and aesthetic connotation of butterfly binding in different periods.This paper explores the reference significance of butterfly binding books in modern book design,and takes Shi Zhu Zhai Shu Hua Pu Shi Pu as an example to carry out the restoration and activation practice of butterfly binding books.The purpose of this paper is to study Song Dynasty butterfly binding books from a more diversified perspective and thinking dimension,through the verification of historical materials and documents,combined with practice,to have a deeper understanding of the historical context,shape characteristics and artistic value of butterfly binding,use modern design language,explore the greater value of Song style bow dress books in the current era and the path of inheritance and innovation,give them a new life.
