The Ming Wenhai is the largest and most extensive of the three anthologies of Ming texts edited by Huang Zongxi in his later years. It is also an indispensable material for studying Huang Zongxi’s literary thought and political attitude,as well as an important value for book editions and cultural policies in the Ming and Qing dynasties.Previous studies have focused on the edition system and Huang Zongxi’s literature, but there has not been a specific study of the titles and authors of the Ming Wenhai, and an accurate and reliable catalog of the Ming Wenhai has not yet appeared.Based on the results of previous research on the editions of the Ming Wenhai, this paper aims to collate the titles and authors of the Ming Wenhai,to clarify the exact number of texts and authors surviving in the Ming Wenhai, and finally to compile a complete and correct catalog of the Ming Wenhai. This paper is composed of the main text and the appendices. The main text consists of the following three parts,in addition to the introduction and conclusion. The first part is an overview of the editions of the Ming Wenhai.Six of the eleven extant editions of the Ming Wenhai are selected for their reference value, and are introduced in terms of their lineage, taboo avoidance, surviving texts, differences between the table of contents and the text, residual texts, and alterations. On the basis of the edition studies,we selected the base text, checked the titles and authors, and found the differences between the editions in terms of titles or authors of the same text,as well as the survivors of each edition.Among the six editions, the ZDO is the most complete, while the Wenjin,Hanfenlou, and Jingjatang texts do not differ much in terms of the number of surviving texts, and the Wenyuan,Wenlan, and Wensu texts are similar and differ greatly from the ZDO.The second part is the examination of the difference of the title. The first part of the name differences, there are differences between the table of contents and the text, there are different versions of the text between the entries, according to the dissimilarity is caused by the substantive differences in the names of all the dissimilarities exist, the dissimilarities do not cause substantive differences, such as omission, generalization, rewriting caused by the dissimilarity of the name of the chapter briefly introduced, the dissimilarities caused by the substantive differences, such as the object of the letter, the name of the place, the name of the book caused by the dissimilarity The first part of the paper is the examination of the name of the article by article to determine the correct name of the article. The third part is the examination of authorship differences. The difference between the author’s name and the name of the difference is similar, according to whether it leads to different objects for classification, can be divided into two major categories of heteronym and heteronym. The difference in the names of the authors is similar to the difference in the names of the authors of the articles, and the difference in the names of the authors is due to different names of the same person. The former requires articleby-article examination, while the latter is briefly introduced with examples. Finally, the above three parts of the work can clarify the situation of the surviving texts and authors in each edition, and after solving the examination of the title and author,we can gather the surviving texts in each edition and come up with a complete and accurate catalog of the Ming Wenhai, which will statistically show the exact number of articles and authors included in the Ming Wenhai. The complete table of contents will be presented in the form of appendices, and each article will be marked with the status of its survival in each edition,in order to restore the original appearance of the Ming Wenhai to the greatest extent possible and to show the status of each edition.
