| Family documentaries in the context of personalized discourse focus on women’s individual survival,constructing mothers,wives and social images of women in intergenerational,gender and social contexts,presenting the creators’ concern for women’s survival and spiritual outlet since the 1990 s.This study attempts to take the family documentaries that mainly tell women’s stories since the 1990 s as the research object,and through analyzing the specific patterns of the constructed female images,the cultural motives behind them and the strategies of constructing images,to explore the meanings and problems in the construction of female images in this type of documentaries,in order to provide creative inspiration for the construction of female images in family documentaries in the new era.The first part of the paper starts from the intergenerational context,based on the intergenerational relationship in the family,the family documentary uses a series of narrative strategies,such as using a combination of internal and external narrative perspectives,focusing on women’s individual emotions and balancing the construction of motherhood,to build three types of motherhood images: sacrifice,self and balance,revealing the contradictory connotations of women’s motherhood under the collective unconscious discipline of patriarchal culture and the influence of feminist thinking.The second part of the dissertation starts from the gender context and constructs two types of wives: autonomous awakening and passive awakening,based on women’s consciousness through "othering" and spectacle narratives,which reflect women’s thinking about their self-worth based on the development of the times.In the third part of the thesis,two types of social women,struggling and submissive,are constructed from the social context through spatial narratives,dramatic conflicts and empathic constructions,and the social images of these two types of women are used to respond to the social symptoms of the transformation of the times.The fourth part of the thesis elaborates on the significance of constructing female images in family documentaries in the context of personalized discourse in terms of authenticity,humanism and aesthetics,and also in terms of stereotyping tendency of image construction,too much focus on the bottom and slightly negative spiritual communication.We reflect on them. |
