Research On Male Image Construction Under Documentary Spatial Narrative Strategy

In traditional literary and artistic works,in order to highlight the character characteristics and create a distinctive character image,the local area is usually enlarged to represent the whole.There is no denying that this method has a wonderful effect on the construction of the character image,but this method is biased.In some films and television works,men are even portrayed as absolute protagonists,representatives of authority and masters of power discourse.Male images are defined as pillars of the family,elites of the society and power masters,etc.,which is obviously not in line with the development trend of current social individuals,the author believes.Nowadays,with the advent of the age of consumerism and the change of social gender order,the male image in the mass media is gradually changing the traditional image mode,and the public’s examination of the male image also reveals the diversified aesthetic consciousness.In image creation,spatial narrative strategy plays a more and more important role in the construction of multiple images of characters.Therefore,it is worth further study in the application of spatial narrative strategy in the construction of characters’ images.As an important narrative dimension,space is a key element that constitutes the narration of image text,and as an important symbolic carrier,it actively participates in the construction of the characters in the image.Documentary has the image objectivity and realistic aesthetic tradition,which is the best image support for the study of male image construction.Bach Rhapsody,the author’s graduation work,tells the story of the hero who loses himself and realizes himself again after experiencing career crisis,family crisis and emotional crisis.At present,the concept of male image construction in the documentary creation has not been systematically studied in our country.This paper will take the documentary space narrative strategy as the entrance,select typical documentary image works as the case support,and combine with the Graduation Bach’s Rhapsody.This paper discusses the construction methods of male image in social space,family space and individual spiritual space in documentary images,so as to realize the coupling of spatial narrative strategy and documentary male image construction.
