This paper focuses on the theory of "science fiction realism" proposed by Zheng Wenguang, the "father of Chinese science fiction",in the 1980 s and his subsequent creative practice. The thesis focuses on the theory of "science fiction realism" proposed by the "father of Chinese science fiction" Zheng Wenguang in the 1980 s and his subsequent creative practice, and explores its unique value for the construction of local science fiction theory and literary development in China. The introductory section provides an overview of the significance of the thesis, the research ideas, and the current status of research on Zheng’s "science fiction realism" theory and creative practice; The main part includes the following three chapters:The first chapter discusses Zheng Wenguang’s theoretical construction of "science fiction realism".The first section first points out how Zheng Wenguang’s science fiction practice in the 1950 s provided the preliminary preparation for the formulation of his theory of "science fiction realism";then analyzes how the "spring of science" and the creative revival of the science fiction community in the new era became the historical conditions for Zheng Wenguang’s exploration of "science fiction realism".Finally, focusing on the "Science and Literature Controversy",we analyze the relevance of Zheng’s science fiction theory in a specific historical context. The second section aims to explore two core issues of the theory of "science fiction realism" : firstly,on the basis of the distinction between the concepts of "science popularization" and "science literature and art",it is pointed out that the primary aim of the theory is to break down the "science fiction realism".First,on the basis of the distinction between the concepts of "science fiction" and "science literature",it is pointed out that the primary purpose of the theory is to break away from the "science fiction instrumentalism" and to obtain the independent status of "science fiction".Secondly,Zheng’s understanding of literary intervention in reality is clarified, and Zheng’s definition of the relationship between "science fiction" and "reality" is explored in the metaphor of "refractive mirror".The second chapter analyses Zheng Wenguang’s creative texts that put into practice the theory of "science fiction realism".The first section divides Zheng Wenguang’s "science fiction realism" fiction since the New Age into three themes: first,Zheng Wenguang’s series of science fiction writings reflecting the special era are subsumed into the trend of literary reflection at the beginning of the New Age,pointing out that his creations are confined to the reflection of empirical reality because they are too restricted by the writer’s personal memory;second,on the premise of breaking through the personal Secondly,on the premise of breaking through his personal vision,Zheng Wenguang responded to the alienation of human beings in modern society, and his reflection on the fate of human beings in the light of technological reflection was an important reflection in this period. The third is the imagination of a future Martian world. These three themes highlight Zheng’s theoretical aspirations to intervene in reality through science fiction, but they also reveal the challenges he may face in moving from theory to practice. The second section analyses how Zheng Wenguang manages the aesthetic tension between science and literature, reality and fantasy in his specific narrative strategies,in order to achieve the unity of realism and romanticism pursued by his theory of "science fiction realism".The first is to break through the rigid model of portraying scientists in the past and realise his literary ideal of portraying a new "modern socialist" man.The second is to analyse Zheng’s use of symbolic metaphorical narrative strategies,so as to maintain a natural balance between the romanticized science fiction and realistic interventions in his novels. The third chapter attempts to explore the significance and limitations of Zheng Wenguang’s theoretical practice of "science fiction realism" in the context of the development of Chinese science fiction literature as a whole.First,it analyzes the echoes and inheritance of Zheng’s "science fiction realism" theory by his contemporaries and the "new generation of science fiction" since the new century, and then summarizes the unique value of science fiction realism theory to the overall development of Chinese science fiction. This paper argues that Zheng Wenguang’s theory of "science fiction realism" essentially embodies the creative pursuit of establishing China’s indigenous science fiction, and on the basis of making up for the shortcomings of national science fiction attempts,he has taken up the social responsibility of reflecting reality with works of great Chinese characteristics. At the same time, however,it should also be pointed out that an overly heavy reality will definitely become an invisible shackle for science fiction, limiting the imagination of Zheng Wenguang’s creations.
