The 1990 s marked a turning point in the development of Chinese science fiction.In the1980 s,the upsurge of scientific development brought a small climax to the creation of Chinese science fiction.However,the labels of pseudoscience and spiritual pollution had silenced science fiction in the public realm.In 1991,Science Fiction World was released as a science fiction journal,which led Chinese science fiction into the public domain.Science Fiction World has promoted the development of various sci-fi concepts and sci-fi creations such as the “New Wave” sci-fi novels in China,advocated adopting the tradition of realistic literature,and focused on breaking through the barriers of genre literature and serious literature.At the same time,the emergence of the new generation science fiction writers and the national composition of science fiction are closely related to the organization of writers and award-winning activities by Science Fiction World in the 1990 s.Therefore,this paper will explore the development track of Chinese science fiction from the literary production activities of Science Fiction World in the 1990 s,and investigate it from three aspects:establishment of local science fiction position,updating of science fiction ideas,and organization of awards to improve the quality of the science fiction.The first chapter,Construction of an Important Town of Chinese Science Fiction Literature,discusses that Science Fiction World has built a solid literary position for Chinese science fiction literature from three aspects of science fiction resources,authors,and readers.In the 1990 s,Science Fiction World determined its attribute as an authoritative science fiction journal in the process of starting and revising a magazine.During the formation of the creative team and the expansion of Science Fiction Circle,Science Fiction World discovered and launched many growing science fiction writers.Writers such as Wang Jinkang,Liu Cixin and He Xi,who emerged at the end of the 20 th century,are still the main force of Chinese science fiction creation in the new century.Apart from that,the science fiction fan circle established by Science Fiction World provided a large number of professional readers for Chinese science fiction.At the same time,a lot of science fiction fans also devoted themselves to the cause of Chinese science fiction to promote,comment and write science fiction literature.The second chapter,Promotion of the Renewal of Chinese Science Fiction Concept,discusses that Science Fiction World has absorbed science fiction resources from foreign science fiction achievements,scientific achievements,and mainstream literature,promoting the renewal of domestic science fiction concepts in the 1990 s.By translating and introducing foreign works and setting up foreign science fiction tutorials and other columns,Science Fiction World promoted Chinese science fiction to learn from the golden age of European and American science fiction,and showed an attitude of catching up with and surpassing foreign science fiction creation.What's more,it made Chinese science fiction creation pay attention to innovation,cutting-edge themes and social problems.In addition,the publication pointed out that science fiction is not science popularization,and intended to guide science fiction to show the future prospect of science and technology development,with the assumption that science fiction should lead the scientific development.Finally,the publication also boosted domestic science fiction to absorb the creative concept of the “New Wave” science fiction,and paid attention to integrate science fiction and mainstream literature.The third chapter,Promotion of the Diversification of Chinese Science Fiction,expounds the evaluation criteria of the Galaxy Award sponsored by Science Fiction World as well as the characteristics of its respected works,and analyzes how to improve the quality of science fiction and drive the diversified development of science fiction through awards.Galaxy Award is aimed to encourage newcomers to make new works,focus on absorbing the experience of mainstream literature,look at the popularity of science fiction,and support the breakthrough in the tradition of science fiction writing.Generally speaking,Science Fiction World shows its support for the nationalization and diversification of science fiction creation,which has also accumulated experiences for the development of science fiction in the new century.Finally,this paper mentions that Chinese science fiction in the 1990 s remains in its infancy,and the theory and practice of science fiction are not yet mature.The contribution of Science Fiction World lies in that it not only retains the flame of Chinese science fiction literature,blows it to the public domain,and illuminates the way forward for the development of Chinese science fiction,but also provides a forward-looking plan for the development of Chinese science fiction.At the same time,Science Fiction World promotes domestic science fiction to absorb foreign science fiction resources,encourages diversified creation
