A C-E Translation Report Of Wo Men De Feng Jing (Excerpt) From The Perspective Of Gestalt

Both in eastern and western cultures,essay is regarded as one of the most important literary genres.Its subject is diverse,and emotions sincere.Its content varies,ranging from magnificent natural scenery to unforgettable experience of characters.Sometimes it expresses the author’s pleasure to the landscape,and sometimes it releases the depressed and unhappy depression.The most prominent feature of essay is high literary value and abundant meanings.Therefore,essay translation is an important part of cultural promotion in any country.However,at present,the research on essay translation is in a state of slow development,and the foreign translation of Chinese essay is also relatively backward: firstly,the translation versions are old and few,and secondly,few new works go abroad,which leaves the foreign translation of Chinese prose a long way to go.Nowadays,the reference of adjacent discipline concepts is very common in the field of translation research,and interdisciplinary research is also the trend of future society.However,Jiang Qiuxia(姜秋霞),a domestic scholar,published the book Aesthetic Procession in Literary Translation:Image-G Actualization as early as in 2002,which initiated an advanced research topic that applied gestalt psychology to literary translation.In 2019,Li Meng(李梦)and Gong Xiaobin(龚晓斌)jointly wrote A Study of Image Reproduction in the Translation of Literary Essays from the Perspective of Gestalt,which is the first monograph that has been officially published and specifically applied gestalt psychology to essay translation.After combining the previous research results,the present author will apply the seven principles of gestalt to translate the Chinese essay collection Wo Men De Feng Jing into English.In the process of practice,gestalt principle can guide essay translation from at least three aspects: firstly,from the aspect of lexical selection,gestalt principle helps to select the most appropriate words by grasping the overall style or implicit meaning of the article;secondly,from the aspect of harmony structure,due to the different usage habits of Chinese and English languages,it is inevitable to restructure the phases and sentences in the process of translation;finally,from the aspect of atmosphere creation,gestalt principle can help the translator grasp the main idea and theme of the original text and reproduce it in the translation.
