Mainstream Media On The Construction Of Collective Memory Of National Day Parade

Coincides with the 70 th anniversary of the founding of New China,the National Day parade attracted worldwide attention.The media on this subject has also been given adequate attention and height.The history of the past 70 years about the National Day parade has been revisited by various commemorative news.In the formation of the collective memory of the National Day military parade,the media has played an important role in inheritance and reconstruction.The research of this paper is based on the relevant reports of People’s Daily,which is the representative of the mainstream media,and takes its relevant reports from 1949 to2019 as samples.Based on the theory of collective memory,this analysis starts from two dimensions: history and text.This paper discusses People’s Daily’s presentation of the National Day parade and its construction strategies from three ways: collective memory and history,collective memory and narration,collective memory and symbol.The study found that National Day parade report always plays an important role in People’s Daily.Mainstream media attaches great importance to the National Day parade history writing.People’s Daily’s strategies of constructing collective memory are mainly embodied in the following aspects:First,People’s Daily is good at using historical context and historical analogy to trace back to the past,and makes full use of the memorial time and place to carry the memory.Manufacturing history always begins with a retrospective to highlight the current achievement or emotion.Second,People’s Daily’s report on the National Day parade is focused,repetitive,and has a high readability like stories.By telling stories and giving emotions,the past is made real and the collective memory is kept alive.Third,the People’s Daily skillfully uses symbolic techniques.Various symbols are used to symbolize special meanings,and poetry is used to express specific emotions,and then the history of the National Day military parade becomes an epic of the Chinese nation.
