In 1645,in response to the growing power of the Royal army during the Civil War,the Parliamentary decided to organize several armies into the New Model Army.It was the beginning of a new chapter in English military history and the culmination of a military revolution that had been progressing in England since 1588.While inheriting the old Dutch tactics of the Parliamentary army,the New Model Army learned from the strengths of the Swedish army.With its large army of well-trained officers,cavalry and the flatness of England,gradually formed a set of the cavalry as the main force,pay attention to commanders on the spot play a unique tactical system,pioneered modern British army tactics.The perfect system and reasonable tactics made the New Model Army invincible in the Civil War.In the Battle of Naseby,it defeated the Royalist ’Oxford’ Army by defensive counterattack.In the Battle of Dunbar,it defeated the Scottish army by night attack and finally won the final victory of the civil War.After the restoration,the tactics of the new Model army were inherited by the Later British army along with the retention of the new model army personnel,which pointed out the direction for the development of the British army in the future and also provided valuable reference for the military development of all countries in the world.
