| As the skeleton connecting the city, the street is the public place with the closest connection between the production and life of the residents. However, the rapid development of the urbanization process has brought various social problems, especially the crime problem that poses a great threat to the safety of residents and social harmony. The occurrence of any crime exists in a specific space. As one of the carriers of crime, the characteristics of the space environment are an important factor affecting crime. Therefore, incorporating the environmental factors affecting criminal behavior in the street into the environmental design and management of the street is of great significance for preventing crime and building a safe city. This paper takes urban streets in the main urban area of Hefei as the research object, based on environmental criminology, defensible space theory, crime prevention theory through environmental design and broken window theory, through literature review, field research, spatial analysis and data analysis methods. The following conclusions are drawn from the research on the distribution characteristics and environmental influencing factors of nighttime crimes in the streets of the main urban area:(1)The distribution characteristics of nighttime crimes in the streets of the main urban area: in the distribution of different crime sites, the places with the highest proportion of cases are the entrances and exits of various buildings and road intersections;in terms of the spatial distribution of criminal behaviors, nighttime crimes in the main urban streets The behavior showed an obvious clustering distribution pattern, and produced many crime hotspots. The crime hotspots were mainly concentrated in the central urban area of the first ring with developed commerce and a high level of crowd activity, and gradually decreased like the second ring and beyond.(2)Environmental factors affecting nighttime criminal behavior in the main urban area:The street environmental factor with the most significant impact on street nighttime criminal behavior is the walkable width of the sidewalk. The lower impact on criminal behavior was greater, followed by the environmental elements with significant differences were interface transparency and store density,in this study streets with higher interface transparency had lower crime densities, and streets with higher store densities also had higher crime densities.Low.At the same time, through a comprehensive analysis of typical street samples with different incident levels,it is concluded that street lighting design and street sanitation facilities at night are potential environmental factors that have an impact on criminal behavior.(3)Based on the crime prevention theory, combined with the environmental elements that have significant differences in nighttime streets and the environmental elements that potentially affect nighttime criminal behavior obtained from quantitative analysis, from the walkable width of sidewalks, street lighting at night, building facades and The optimal design strategy of the street environment for crime prevention is given in terms of the configuration of the ground floor shops. |
