The aging process of China’s population is significantly accelerated, and the number of the elderly is constantly expanding.Due to the decline of various organs and the sudden onset of the elderly, many elderly people become completely disabled. At present,on the one hand, the supply of social pension care services in China is insufficient;on the other hand, the completely disabled elderly have limited ability to pay for care services. In the situation that family pension still plays an important role, the completely disabled elderly are mainly provided with long-term care by family members. However, with the continuous centralization of family structure and the continuous reduction of family size in China, family caregivers get increasingly insufficient care support in the process of caring for the completely disabled elderly. In this regard, how to effectively increase the social support of family caregivers, and then improve the quality of care for the completely disabled elderly is an important research topic. The questionnaire method and interview method of the M City G community were investigated and interviewed. The analysis found that these family caregivers faced a lack of human, financial and material resources,as well as physical, psychological and social pressures in the daily care of the completely disabled elderly. To this end, under the guidance of social support theory, this paper takes the form of group work intervention to help the informal support network,to increase their social support and alleviate the difficulties they face. The study found that using group work methods to build informal support networks for family caregivers of fully disabled elderly was feasible. After the series of group activities, the family caregivers of the completely disabled elderly who participated in the activity received support from other family caregivers, relatives and neighbors, effectively alleviating their psychological, physical and social pressure. At the same time, the later follow-up visits also show that the informal social support network built through group activities can allow family caregivers of completely disabled elderly to obtain social support resources outside the family for a long time.
