| China has to occupy a lot of land in the countryside due to construction projects, and rural residents have to move away from their living places under the guidance of the government.Relocation and resettlement will change the immigrants’ original way of life, and they will give up their old habitual living environment and suffer great economic losses. They do not want to move away, they are involuntary immigrants, especially those who lose their land and move away from their place of residence in the construction of the project.Rural small-scale project migrants, led by the local government, are much weaker in terms of manpower, material and financial resources compared with national large-scale project migrants, and have shortcomings in terms of policy support, compensation and resettlement, etc. To complete relocation smoothly and orderly poses a grand challenge to the government work. Therefore, according to the actual situation and problems that will be faced by the resettlement of small rural migrants, effective resettlement countermeasures should be developed according to local conditions, and the compensation and relief policies should maximize the benefits to immigrants’ livelihoods and guarantee the quality of life of migrants after they move out,so that their livelihoods can be developed sustainably. This paper takes Village A of Township Y in Shanxi Province as an example to conduct an in-depth analysis of the problems in the resettlement of migrants relocated from small-scale projects in its territory, and explores the causes of the problems. The study finds that there are problems such as unsound infrastructure construction of resettlement sites, dissatisfaction of migrants with compensation standards, difficulty in maintaining long-term livelihoods after relocation, and psychological resistance of migrants to relocation.According to the above problems this paper proposes countermeasures such as sound compensation and resettlement mechanism, improving the level of government services, strengthening the ability of departmental collaboration, and paying attention to sustainable life after resettlement. To alleviate the contradictions existing in the resettlement of immigrants of small-scale projects in Village A of Township Y,and to provide effective help to solve the problems. |
