Research On The Development And Problems Of Characteristic Towns Under The Background Of Rural Revitalization

The report to the Party’s 20 th National Congress clearly pointed out that the most arduous and onerous task of comprehensively building a modern socialist country still lies in the countryside,and characteristic towns are an important practice of a new path to urbanization.Characteristic town is a complex ecosystem that integrates multiple facets such as industrial production,people-to-people exchange,and space.It is highly consistent with the general requirements of the strategy for rural revitalization: pursuing prosperous industrial development,desirable living environment,rural civilization,efficient governance and higher living quality.In recent years,China has been attaching increasing importance to the high-quality development of characteristic towns.Most of characteristic towns are the combination of rural and urban areas with regional features.Building characteristic towns is an efficient approach to utilize urban and rural resources in a complementary manner,and further advance the integrated development of urban and rural areas.Moreover,characteristic towns help accelerate steps of upgrading the industrial structure.The characteristic town built based on the culture of Ru porcelain has significantly contributed to local economic development and facilitated the inheritance of the culture of Ru porcelain,while providing a basis for boosting the economic growth of rural areas with resources.However,the characteristic town of Ru porcelain still faces many challenges during its construction.For example,the allocation of factors between urban and rural areas is not balanced,and the inclusive fundamental public service mechanism for rural and urban societies is not sound.These issues are constraining the high-quality development of characteristic towns.Given this,an interview was conducted in this study with local staff,residents and tourists using the interview method.The basic information,current status of competitive industries and other information of the characteristic town of Ru porcelain were discussed during the interview.Problems in the development of the characteristic town in the context of rural revitalization were found,and approaches to drive the development of characteristic towns were put forward in this paper.To a certain extent,these approaches not only offer experience for the coordinated development of characteristic towns in Henan province and the realization of strategic goals for rural revitalization,but also facilitate the resolution of issues relating to agriculture,rural areas and farmers and promote the development of rural areas.This paper is divided into six chapters.Chapter I describes the research background and significance,and introduces the research framework and methodology of this paper.Chapter II gives a review on domestic and international studies of characteristic towns,defines relevant key concepts,expounds theories involved in this study,and finally details the development course of characteristic towns and the functions and positioning of them in the context of rural revitalization.In Chapter III,a quantitative analysis for the development of the characteristic town of Ru porcelain was conducted in SPSS25.0 using questionnaire and interview methods.In Chapter IV,a SWOT analysis was made based on the analysis results obtained in Chapter III combined with pertinent literature,in order to examine the development situation of the characteristic town of Ru porcelain and challenges it faces in the course of development.Chapter V tables “SO strategy for development”,“WO strategy for turnaround”,“ST strategy for diversification”,and “WT strategy for defense” in an attempt to boost the development of the characteristic town of Ru porcelain.Chapter VI draws conclusions from previous chapters.
