A Study On U.S. Strategic Competition With China And China’s Response From The Perspective Of Power Transition Theory

The world is in a period of great change and adjustment,which has not been seen in a century.This is reflected in the multi-polarization of the international pattern,the diversification of the modernization path,and Socialism with Chinese characteristics has achieved great historical achievements.According to Power Transition Theory,countries in the international system are divided into "hegemonic countries" and "rising countries".The rise and fall of the powers of the two countries will increase the probability of conflict and eventually promote the change of the international order.In view of the significant growth of China’s strength and the continuous improvement of its international influence,the planning of the United States strategic competition with China began in the Bush administration.After the three administrations of Obama,Trump and Biden,the strength and degree of the United States strategic competition with China have been increasing.The fundamental purpose is to curb China’s development and maintain the order advantage and scope of influence of the United States in the Asia-Pacific region.Under the impact of the 21st century epidemic and the tide of anti-globalization,this has put new demands on China-Us relations.As major countries,China and the United States need to shoulder their due international responsibilities.Maintaining the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations is related to the peace and stability of the world and the development and prosperity of the world.Therefore,China and the United States need to focus on common interests,seek common ground while shelving and resolving differences,and actively cooperate to better benefit the whole world.Power Transition Theory has a subtle impact on the formulation and implementation of the United States’ strategy towards China.In order to avoid the dual confrontation between the rising country and the leading country,we urgently need to change the old paradigm of realism of power transfer,and explore the stock and incremental advantages of cooperation between the two sides by reducing strategic mutual doubt,so as to jointly develop to meet global challenges.The stable and sustainable development of Sino US relations requires both sides to avoid miscalculations and act towards each other.Therefore,we should focus on getting rid of the theoretical logic of power transfer,and take the initiative to build a new type of international relations to replace the alliance confrontation in the context of the century of change,and taking the construction of a new type of international relations between China and the United States as a breakthrough and entry point,promoting the normalization and benign development of Sino US relations,while strengthening Sino-US economic and trade cooperation to stabilize the economic base,and giving full play to our own initiative to improve the international discourse power,So as to realize the control and degradation of conflicts between China and the United States and break the "Thucydides Trap".
