With the gradual penetration of digital technology into various fields of agricultural production and rural life,the construction of digital village has become a strategic direction to realize rural revitalization and an important content to promote the development of agricultural and rural modernization.As an important participant in the construction of digital countryside,middle-aged rural residents’ digital literacy and skills are the key to drive the comprehensive development of digital countryside.This study holds that digital literacy of rural residents refers to the synthesis of digital knowledge,digital consciousness,digital ability and digital norms that rural residents should possess in agricultural production and daily life.First of all,this study takes middle-aged rural residents in Hubei province as the research object and carries out empirical research through questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview.The survey finds that the digital literacy level of middle-aged rural residents in Hubei province is low;Secondly,based on the research results and the digital divide theory,this study concludes that middle-aged rural residents in Hubei province are faced with digital access difficulties,digital perception difficulties and digital use difficulties in improving digital literacy.In addition,the imperfect digital cultivation system of farmers is also an important factor restricting the improvement of digital literacy of middle-aged rural residents in Hubei Province;Thirdly,according to the current situation of digital literacy of middle-aged rural residents in Hubei province and the problems faced in improving it,this study,based on the theory of social support,builds a digital literacy promotion model of middle-aged rural residents,which is demand-driven by the government,cultivated by public libraries,and co-built by multiple subjects with the participation of social forces;Finally,from the perspective of the implementation subject in the promotion mode,this study puts forward specific countermeasures and suggestions to improve the digital literacy of middle-aged rural residents,in order to provide a valuable reference for the research on the improvement of digital literacy of middle-aged rural residents.
