The world today is entering an era of globalization.Inter-state and people-to-people exchanges are becoming closer, forming a complex and dynamic whole.Every individual, nation or country in the world is inevitably involved in the process of global exchanges, which enables different individuals, nations and countries to develop and interact with each other through exchanges. Therefore,it is increasingly important to study the problem of communication. As an important part of historical materialism,Marx’s communication theory is closely related to many aspects of historical materialism, such as social development and human development. It occupies a very important position in Marxist philosophy. Therefore, deepening the study of Marx’s communication theory has a very important theoretical and practical significance for promoting social development and human’s all-round development.Since the new era,our modernization construction has made remarkable achievements, but our development is also facing a lot of problems and challenges regarding the general situation of international social unrest. As the theoretical basis for Chinese participation in the world communication,Marx’s communication theory plays a guiding role in the modernization development of our country.Further enhancing the development of Marx’s communication theory in the new era will contribute to the better development of Marxism theory and its localization in China. Therefore, deepening the study of Marx’s communication theory is also the trend of The Times. In addition to the introduction, the paper discusses from the following four parts:The first part expounds the historical background and ideological origin of Marx’s communication theory.Marx’s communication theory was born in the 18 th century during the rapid development of the Industrial revolution.Driven by the capitalist industrial revolution,it not only brought about great changes in the communication relations between people, but also developed to a new historical stage with the continuous intensification of the internal contradictions of capitalism and the proletariat stepping on the historical stage.New theories are urgently needed to guide the communication situation of the real society. Thus,Marx’s communication theory came into being. Moreover, the emergence of Marx’s communication theory is not accomplished overnight, but has a profound theoretical origin. The communication thought in ancient Greek philosophy period,Enlightenment period and German classical philosophy period had an important influence on Marx’s establishment of scientific communication theory. The second part elaborates the development track of Marx’s communication theory.By combing and analyzing the classic texts of Marxism, the development track of Marx’s communication theory is divided into three stages: the embryonic stage expounds the transformation of Marx’s communication thought from idealism to materialism, thus forming the rudiments of the completely materialistic communication view; The establishment stage discusses Marx’s views on the nature of communication, alienation and the relationship with various categories of historical materialism, thus establishing the basic point of view on communication. In the deepening stage,Marx reveals the communication form of capitalist society, thus revealing the economic basis of capitalist social communication. Moreover,Marx also takes Russia as an example to expound his thinking on the communication problem of backward countries, thus clearly presenting the development of Marx’s communication theory. The third part expounds the main content of Marx’s communication theory. This part starts with clarifying the concept and typical characteristics of communication, and summarizes the forms of communication according to different standards.Besides,it discusses that productive forces and division of labor are the driving forces for promoting the development of communication from the perspective of historical materialism,it also reveals that communication plays an important role in promoting the development of society, the formation of world history and human development. This shows that Marx’s communication theory is a set of scientific and rigorous theoretical system. The fourth part expounds the development of Marx’s communication theory in the new era. This part, based on the historical bearing of China entering the new era, tries to discuss how China actively participates in global exchanges under the guidance of Marx’s communication theory.Since the new era,the new pattern of all-round opening up,the Belt and Road Initiative and the building of a "community with a shared future for mankind" are all responses of Marx’s communication theory to the dilemma of contemporary human exchanges in the new era.To explore the development of Marx’s communication theory in the new era is not only the enrichment and perfection of Marx’s communication theory, but also, from a practical sense,it is of great significance to promote China’s development and global integration, make mankind move towards a real community of human destiny, and realize the free and comprehensive development of human beings. Therefore, this paper starts from the perspective of historical materialism, takes Marx’s communication theory as the research object, and on the basis of a comprehensive discussion of its meta-theory,deeply explores the development of Marx’s communication theory in the new era.It not only strives to enrich and improve the study of Marx’s communication theory, but also combines the historical characteristics of the new era.To exert the guiding function of Marx’s communication theory on understanding the world and solving practical problems,it is necessary for our country to explore new communication forms that meet the requirements of the new era.
