A Study Of Marx’s Communication Theory

As the concrete form of human’s historical existence and practice,communication is the natural and social need of realistic human survival and development,and the way of social existence in which realistic human beings show their essence.Although Marx did not form a monograph of communication theory,he paid attention to the problem of communication in different periods of his life development,and systematically elaborated his communication theory from the perspective of historical materialism.More than 100 years ago,Marx foresaw in his communication theory the overall trend of increasingly close communication between people and countries in today’s world,and also revealed the evolution of the future society on the basis of the contradictory movement of productive forces and communication forms,and then provided theoretical guidance for the development of production,society and individuals from the perspective of communication.Marx’s theory is not an immutable dogma,but a scientific methodology that keeps pace with The Times.In the face of today’s global production development,social development and personal development problems,we must seek secrets and answers from Marx’s extensive and profound communication theory,in order to promote the development of production and society,and then lay the foundation for the all-round development of human beings.Starting from historical materialism,this study adopts the method of literature research and comparative research to elaborate the historical background,ideological origin,logical path and main content of Marx’s communication theory.On this basis,the theoretical significance and practical enlightenment of Marx’s communication theory are analyzed.The specific content is divided into the following four parts.The first part is introduction.First of all,it expounds the time basis,theoretical significance and practical significance of the study of Marx’s communication theory,indicating the necessity and importance of the study.Then summarize and refine the main viewpoints of domestic and foreign scholars studying Marx’s communication theory,form the basic ideas and main methods of this study,and introduce the innovation and shortcomings of this study.The second part elaborates the historical background,ideological origin and development course of Marx’s communication theory.Marx’s communication theory is the product of history and times,and must be influenced by the conditions of The Times and the thoughts of predecessors.In the context of The Times,this paper expounds The Times conditions of the emergence of Marx’s communication theory from three aspects: the influence of capitalist industrial revolution,the intensification of capitalist social contradictions and the outbreak of the modern workers’ movement.In terms of ideological origin,it summarizes the ideological basis of Marx’s communication theory from the ancient Greek philosophy communication theory,the English classical political economy communication theory,the French utilitarianism communication thought,the German classical philosophy communication thought.Then we will study his exposition on communication in different periods and divide the formation and development of his communication theory into three stages.The first is the embryonic stage.At this stage,due to the influence of Hegel’s absolute spirit and Feuerbach’s thought of class essence,Marx’s understanding of man was still abstract,and his communication theory remained at the spiritual level.Then there is the maturity stage.With the continuous deepening of the criticism of the real situation and the continuous profound reflection on the thought,Marx explored the communication theory from the practice,and promoted the communication theory to the mature stage.Finally,the deepening stage.In his later years,from the perspective of world history,Marx further expanded the study of communication theory in the deepening of social practice and theoretical exposition.The third part expounds the main content of Marx’s communication theory.This paper mainly expounds Marx’s understanding of communication,as well as the relationship between communication and production,society and individuals.The communication that Marx talked about is the social practice that people carry out to meet their own material and spiritual needs.The corresponding communication is manifested in two forms: material communication and spiritual communication,and the purpose of communication is to meet their own needs.Marx’s communication theory first reveals the relationship between communication and production,communication and production are presuppositions of each other,production determines communication,and communication in turn restricts the development of production;Second,it points out the relationship between exchanges and human society.Exchanges are not only the driving force for the evolution of social system,but also the booster for the transformation of national history into world history,and an important path for the realization of communist society.Third,it discusses the relationship between communication and individual development.The historical form of communication is consistent with the development of human beings.Communication is the essential requirement of individual development,and universal communication is the basis of individual liberation and development.The fourth part expounds the theoretical significance and practical enlightenment of Marx’s communication theory.From the perspective of theoretical understanding,Marx’s communication theory has got rid of the limitation of previous studies on communication and consolidated the content of the theoretical system of historical materialism.From the perspective of practical guidance,Marx’s communication theory guides people in the era of globalization how to promote production and social development through communication,and then realize the ultimate goal of Marx’s communication theory,that is,the all-round development of human beings.
