| With the completion of the poverty alleviation task, rural revitalization has become the next key development goal in rural areas.According to the Outline of the 14 th FiveYear Plan,we will carry out actions to improve rural living environment and steadily resolve prominent environmental problems such as "villages surrounded by garbage" and black and smelly water bodies in rural areas. As an action related to the fundamental well-being of rural residents, the improvement of rural living environment is the key content of building a livable, working and beautiful countryside, and affects the effectiveness of rural revitalization work. The improvement of rural living environment not only needs the promotion and support of the government, but also needs the active cooperation and participation of farmers. However,in rural areas, due to the relatively closed environment and backward cognition of some farmers, their participation enthusiasm in the improvement of rural living environment is not high, and the main role has not been fully played.Existing studies have shown that social capital with network, norms and trust as the core elements can effectively promote the achievement of collective actions,so as to provide theoretical support for promoting farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior. However, existing studies have not fully explored the mechanism of the influence of social capital on farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior. It is necessary to further explore this,so as to further stimulate farmers’ participation behavior, improve the quality of rural living environment, and consolidate and innovate the achievements of rural revitalization.Based on the survey data of Chaohu City,Anhui Province, this study combined social cognitive theory and social capital theory to explore the influence mechanism of environmental and individual cognitive factors on farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior, and built a mechanism model of the influence of social capital on farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior with environmental concern as the mediating variable and government support as the moderating variable. The ordered Logit model was used to empirically test the mechanism of the influence of social capital on farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior. The results show that:(1)Social capital and the three sub-dimensions of social network, social trust and social norms have positive effects on farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior. It can be seen from the results that social capital needs to be further improved, and the enthusiasm of farmers to participate in rural living environment improvement needs to be further improved.(2)Environmental concern plays a partial mediating role in the process that social capital, social network, social trust and social norms affect farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior. Therefore,it is necessary to promote the cultivation of social capital and continuously improve the level of farmers’ environmental concern.(3)The higher the level of government support, the stronger the role of environmental concern in promoting farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior,so it is necessary to further strengthen the government support. Finally, based on the above analysis results, relevant policy suggestions are put forward to promote farmers’ participation in rural living environment improvement behavior from the aspects of strengthening social network, social trust, social norms and other social capital, enhancing farmers’ environmental concern, increasing government support, and improving farmers’ sense of ownership. |
