The rural territorial system is a spatial system composed of nature,economy and humanity,its functions depend on the structural characteristics of the rural territorial system.With the development of urbanisation and regional integration,the internal elemental structure and external environment of the rural territory have undergone significant changes,rural development has entered a new stage,and rural functional structures have diversified development.Rural territorial functions are shifting from providing the traditional basic agricultural production and residential services to the integrated development of functions such as economic development,social life and ecological protection.Therefore,research on the functions of rural territory will be of great significance in promoting the sustainable development of rural territory in accordance with local conditions.This paper takes Ningxia,an ecologically fragile region,as the research area,constructs the index system of rural "production-ecological-living" functions.Based on the analysis of the rural territorial functions and the level of the coupling coordination in the rural territory of Ningxia,divides the rural into different types and puts forward the strategies of classification and optimization.The study found:(1)The rural production,ecological and living functions of the Ningxia have generally improved over the study period.The level of production and living functions have a certain coupling in spatial distribution,their high value area is in the north and the low value area is in the south,while the ecological functions level gradually weaken from south to north of Ningxia.In terms of spatial differences,the overall difference in ecological functions counties was the largest,and the overall difference in living functions counties was the smallest,the differences are mainly between the three regions of northern,central and southern Ningxia and the spatial imbalance of the overall county was decreasing.(2)In terms of spatial correlation,the functions of rural territory in Ningxia are positively correlated spatially.The spatial agglomeration of production and ecological functions was strengthened,while the spatial agglomeration of living functions tended to be scattered.Among them,the hot spot area of production functions is located in the north of Ningxia,showing a shrinking trend,while the cold spot area is expanding in the south of Ningxia.The hot spots of ecological functions spread slightly from the southern part of Ningxia to the north,and the cold spots gradually expand in the northern part of Ningxia.The hot spots of living functions were concentrated in northern Ningxia with no significant changes in distribution and number,while the cold spot area shranked from the central and southern parts to only Yanchi County.(3)From 2011 to 2020,there are significant differences in the coupling coordination of "production-ecological-living" functions and two-two functions in Ningxia’s rural,but the level of coupling coordination was improved overall.The coupling coordination level of "production-living" functions was the highest in 2011 and 2020,but the improvement rate was the slowest,and the overall coordination level was barely coordinated at the end of the study period.The coupling coordination level of " ecological-living" functions was the lowest in the same period,which was an important direction for the further optimization of the coordination of rural " production-ecological-living" functions.The of level of coupling coordination of "production-ecological" functions has evoled in an " inverted U-shape" situation.The rural ecological functions of Ningxia are highly restrictive with the production and living functions,and the level of coupling coordination of " production-ecological-living" functions is low and the upgrading speed is relatively slow.(4)The rural territorial functions are mainly affected by natural factors and social factors.Through the ananlysis of Ordinary Least Square model and Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression model,it is found that the production and ecological functions of rural territory in Ningxia are mainly affected by natural factors such as water resource constraints,while the living functions are mainly affected by the income ratio of urban and rural residents.(5)According to the coupling coordination relationship between rural production,ecological and living functions and the Synchronous Development model,Ningxia’s rural can be divided into five types: ecological lagging type,production advanced type,ecological advanced type,production lagging type and synchronous development type.Differentiated measures should be taken to improve rural production,ecological and living functions for different types of villages,so that the coupling coordinated development of various functions in rural territory can be achieved.
