With the continuous development of the Internet, mobile phones and other mass media have gradually become a part of people’s daily life.Due to the influence of many factors such as low cultural level and weak learning ability, the elderly have lagged behind the rapid development of digital process, and are also faced with difficulties in learning to use mobile phones. From the information divide to the digital divide, the gap between different groups of people has not narrowed with the development of technology, but has created a new gap, resulting in the situation where the old gap has not been leveled and the new gap has arisen again. In this process, the gap between the elderly and young people is also growing, and they are also far behind young people in terms of media literacy.Through literature review,it can be concluded that there are currently the following problems in China’s research on media literacy: firstly, there is a lack of localized development and innovation in theoretical research;Secondly, media literacy education has not been incorporated into teaching practice for a long time;Thirdly, the research focuses on urban residents and youth groups, with low attention paid to the media literacy of the elderly;Fourthly, for the study of media literacy among ethnic minorities, there is relatively little research on the media literacy of the Tujia ethnic group. Therefore, this study will focus on the elderly of the Tujia ethnic group as the research object to explore their mobile media literacy status and improvement paths. This research takes the elderly group in Zhongyi Township,Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County,Chongqing City as the research object, and based on the technology acceptance model, through pre interviews, added variables such as perceived risk, use cost, cultural level,self-identity,etc.,to build a model of influencing factors of mobile phone use of the elderly Tujia people in rural areas, and verified the model through questionnaires and in-depth interviews.Research has found that factors such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use,and cultural level have a significant impact on the use of mobile phones by Tujia elderly people, while factors such as perceived risk, usage cost, and self-identity are not sufficient to affect the use of mobile phones by Tujia elderly people.Based on in-depth interviews,it was found that the use of mobile phones by elderly people from the unearthed family is characterized by a single usage function, emphasis on economy, coexistence with risks, and lack of selfidentity. The overall level of mobile media literacy is relatively low.In response to the survey findings on the current status of mobile media literacy among elderly Tujia people, this study proposes the following strategies to enhance their mobile media literacy: expanding usage scenarios, strengthening intergenerational support, setting up anti rumor columns, and cultivating ethnic identity. The relevant strategies are practical and feasible, and have important reference significance for improving the mobile media literacy of elderly people in ethnic minority areas.
