Whether The Chairman’s Military Experience Can Promote The Internationalization Process Of The Enterprise

By the beginning of 2023,China’s total foreign trade volume has ranked first in the world for six consecutive years.In addition,with the continuous progress of the "the Belt and Road" construction,it provides an opportunity for Chinese enterprises to integrate into the division of labor in the global industrial chain.With the continuous acceleration of economic globalization and the continuous improvement of China’s openness to the outside world,more and more domestic enterprises are entering the international market.The scale and scope of China’s enterprises’ ’going global’ are constantly expanding.At the same time,academic research on the internationalization process of enterprises is becoming increasingly in-depth and presenting a multi-level and multi perspective state.At the macro level,it mainly involves international production compromise theory and cost transaction theory,while at the overall level of enterprises,it mainly involves resource acquisition theory and dynamic capacity theory.Few scholars have studied the internationalization process of enterprises from a micro individual perspective.Considering the important role of corporate executives in implementing corporate internationalization strategies,according to branding theory,an individual’s early special experiences will have a significant impact on their future personal behavioral traits and influence corporate strategic choices through their value orientation.Resilience and perseverance,the military is the best business school,and experiencing this special "imprint" in the military can better influence its value orientation and behavioral choices.With the arrival of reform and opening up,China’s market economy has experienced rapid development.At the same time,due to the lack of matching between the domestic market economy system and the formulation of enterprise rules and regulations with the speed of economic development,the chairman of Chinese enterprises has absolute discourse power.Therefore,this article explores the impact of the chairman’s military experience on the internationalization process of enterprises from the perspective of the chairman’s military experience.In terms of research content.Firstly,based on branding theory and organizational culture theory,this article studies the impact of chairmen with military experience on the internationalization process of Chinese listed companies in Shenzhen and Shanghai,and empirically tests the correlation between the two.Furthermore,the empirical results are tested by using propensity matching scores,replacing explanatory variables,and adding control variables that may be missed,Improve the credibility of research conclusions.Secondly,by introducing the nature of corporate property rights and industry capital intensity,we empirically test the impact of the chairman’s military experience on the internationalization process of enterprises under different property rights.We also empirically test the moderating effect of industry capital intensity on the director’s military experience and enterprise internationalization.Finally,summarize the empirical results of the paper and provide some policy recommendations based on the specific situation in China.In terms of research conclusions.Firstly,through empirical testing,it was found that the chairman’s participation in the military has different impacts on the internationalization process of enterprises.Firstly,the Chairman’s military experience will significantly enhance the breadth of enterprise internationalization,while at the same time,the Chairman’s military experience will suppress the depth of enterprise internationalization.Secondly,by studying the nature of property rights and industry capital intensity,it was found that when the nature of property rights is non-state-owned enterprises,the impact of the military chairman on the internationalization process of the enterprise will be weakened,while when the nature of property rights is state-owned enterprises,the impact of the military chairman on the internationalization process of the enterprise will be strengthened.Finally,in terms of industry capital intensity,through empirical testing of the interaction term between industry capital intensity and military chairman,it was found that the moderating effect of industry capital intensity on the internationalization process of military chairman and enterprises is negative.Specifically,the higher the industry capital intensity,the weaker the impact of military chairman on enterprise internationalization.
