| The construction of Emerging Engineering is a strategic plan put forward by higher engineering education nowadays to meet the new economic challenges and from the perspective of serving the country.Under the background of Emerging Engineering,to meet the development of current industrial revolution,China urgently needs to cultivate higher engineering talents.Under the background of Emerging Engineering construction,the teaching ability of engineering teachers is an important element to promote and realize the construction of Emerging Engineering.As engineering teachers are responsible for the cultivation of higher engineering talents,it is crucial to improve the teaching ability of engineering teachers.This study takes the teaching ability of engineering teachers as the research theme.The basic framework of teaching ability of engineering teachers in the context of Emerging Engineering is explored through literature research.The theoretical basis is the teacher professional development theory,and University of T is the most studied case.The problems of teaching ability of engineering teachers in University of T are examined and analyzed through interviews and surveys,and the reasons behind the problems are analyzed with the teacher professional development theory.Finally,based on the above findings,we propose suggestions for improving the teaching ability of engineering teachers.The main findings of the study are as follows: first,engineering teachers have certain deficiencies in teaching ability,knowledge quality and emotional traits.Second,the reasons for the deficiencies of engineering teachers’ teaching ability are mainly: teachers’ own teaching concepts are not accurate,the assessment and evaluation system of school teachers is not sound,and the training platform for teachers’ teaching ability is not complete.Thirdly,we proposed suggestions for the improvement of teaching ability of engineering teachers: establishing the concept of "developmental" teachers,improving the evaluation and assessment system of teachers,and building a training system for teachers’ teaching ability. |
