China’s constitution and labor law guarantee the equal employment rights of workers.If the traditional idea of height inequality rather than the difference of human capital leads to the phenomenon of "short punishment",it can explain the existence of"height discrimination".The elimination of these unreasonable factors and the protection of workers’ equal employment rights are of great significance for improving the quality of the labor force and promoting the full employment and prosperity of China’s labor market.In order to explore whether there is the phenomenon of "short penalty" in China’s urban labor market,this paper makes an empirical analysis based on China family tracking survey data(CFPS),tests the existence of "short penalty" phenomenon in China’s urban labor market,and conducts benchmark regression analysis on the total sample and sex sub sample.In addition to ols simple regression,this paper also uses Heckman sample selection,Oaxaca blinder decomposition and RIF quantile regression to verify the existence of "short penalty".In the analysis of the mechanism of "short penalty",this paper considers the cognitive ability and non cognitive ability,education level,region,unit nature,industry characteristics and other factors,and constructs interaction items for heterogeneity analysis,trying to make a more in-depth exploration of the causes of "short penalty".The results show that the phenomenon of "short penalty" does exist in China’s urban labor market,and the phenomenon of "short penalty" is more significant in female samples.The decomposition results show that the phenomenon of "short penalty" is related to "height discrimination".The heterogeneity analysis shows that:(1)education level has an inhibitory effect on the phenomenon of "short penalty",and this effect mainly exists in male samples;(2)Compared with the northern region,the phenomenon of "short penalty" in the southern region is alleviated,and the moderating effect mainly exists in the male samples;(3)The phenomenon of "short punishment" in state-owned enterprises is not obvious,and the effect is mainly reflected in the female labor force;(4)The moderating effects of cognitive ability and non cognitive ability,service industry and non service industry on the phenomenon of "short penalty" are not statistically supported.On the basis of empirical analysis,this paper puts forward corresponding policy suggestions.
