Research On The Identity Of Chinese Professional E-Athletes

With the development of e-sports,the research on E-sports is increasing.Based on the existing E-sports research,this paper focuses on the identity of professional E-sports players participating in e-sports,and discusses the shaping process of professional image of E-sports group.On the basis of sorting out the characteristics of social status and age structure of the active professional players in the League of heroes,this paper uses the path and model of social identity provided by the theory of social identity,uses the qualitative research method,uses the means of deep description,and carries out in-depth interviews to sort out and analyze the cases of five professional E-sports players with different characteristics at different stages,From the group identity and individual identity of professional players,this paper shows the process of professional E-sports players’ identity establishment.Through the analysis of "individual group"construction process and players’ choice of identity exit,this paper explains the motivation of professional players from entry to exit.Through deep description and narrative presentation,this paper analyzes the construction process of professional E-sports players’ own and group behavior logic,and probes into the comparison between the inner group and the outer group and the steps to improve their social identity in the interaction of the external environment.The conclusions are as follows(1)The identity of professional e-athletes endows group members with a strong sense of self-esteem,which is relatively independent of the existing stereotyped social evaluation.(2)The sacredness and seriousness of professional E-sports are the most important attributes of professional players.Compared with other groups,this attribute is constantly strengthened,which has become the core characteristics of professional players’ identification with the profession.(3)Compared with the social flow logic of "leaving",professional E-sports players tend to shape the unique personality of group culture in the process of social change in a creative way.Professional E-sports players neither try their best to get rid of the game attribute rooted in e-sports,nor strongly expand the tolerance of upper groups to realize the mainstream of sub group culture.It is to develop the self-confidence dimension of their own group and strive for the recognition of the outside world.(4)Professional E-sports players have simple belief cognition,strong group professionalism,strong desire to win or lose,collective sense of honor,sense of struggle and dedication.This kind of professionalism will be significantly improved with the improvement of competitors’ competition results.
