| Migrants have played an important role in China’s social and economic development and urbanization.According to the people-oriented management concept, paying attention to the welfare of the migrants and promoting the integration of the migrants into cities are the inevitable requirements for building a harmonious society and promoting economic development.Urban integration is a process of continuous adaptation of the migrant in a new social space, not only in relation to their personal endowments and access to resources, but also in relation to the objective spatial and social environment. The built environment of the place of residence and work is an important part of the living space of migrants. On the one hand,it provides various infrastructures, which brings convenience to the life of migrants in the inflow area and affects their life satisfaction. On the other hand, the built environment provides social space for the migrant, influencing them to interact with residents inside and outside the community or near their place of work.Promote the transformation of the original social network based on kinship and geography into a new social network based on industry and new geography. This thesis focuses on the living space of the migrant and explores its impact on the social network and urban integration of the migrant.Based on a review of research, this thesis develops a theoretical framework of "built environment of work and residence-social network-urban integration" and conducts empirical research. The data on personal characteristics, working and living places, social network and urban integration level of the migrants are derived from the household survey data of Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone, and the data on the built environment is derived from map data and processed through Arc GIS.This thesis explores the impact of the residential and workplace built environment on urban integration and the mediating role of social networks, and makes a comparative analysis from the scope of different living circles, and draws the following conclusions:(1)Personal characteristics such as gender, age, and income have a significant impact on the psychological integration of the migrants, and the level of education and personal income promotes their psychological integration rather than behavioral integration.(2)Wuhan kinship network and network top have a positive impact on migrants’ psychological integration, while non-kinship network and network heterogeneity affect their behavioral integration.(3)In the built environment of residential areas, the road proximity of the 10-minute living circle has a positive impact on the urban integration of the migrant, and the density of leisure facilities in the 15-minute living circle promotes their behavioral integration. In the built environment of the workplace, the building density has a positive impact on the psychological integration of the migrant, but the higher the POI mixture in the 10-minute life circle, the less conducive to their psychological integration.(4)In terms of the mediating effect of social network, the built environment of residence is more important for the migrant to strengthen their kinship network, thereby promoting their psychological integration. The built environment of the workplace is more important for migrants to build non-kinship networks, thereby promoting their behavioral integration. In addition, the mediating effect of social network is sensitive to spatial scale which has a more significant effect in the 15-minute life circle at the residence and the 10-minute life circle at the workplace. In terms of research perspectives, most studies focus on the choice of residential location, willingness to live, urban integration and influencing factors of the migrant from the perspectives of sociology, economics, management. However, they have paid less attention to the living space of the migrant and its impact on their social networks and urban integration. Therefore, this thesis intends to take a more dynamic and micro perspective, combining the individual factors of the migrant with the environmental factors,to explore in depth the mechanisms of the influence of built environment on the urban integration of the migrant. In addition, this thesis pays attention to the built environment of the workplace and divides it into a 10-minute living circle and a 15-minute living circle to explore its distance effect. We can investigate the influence of space on the urban integration of the migrant from a more comprehensive perspective and provides decision-making basis for the spatial planning management, traffic demand management and social services for the migrant in the communities. |
