A Study Of Group Work Intervention In Social Integration Of Migrant Elders

With the accelerated urbanization in China and the increasing trend of family mobility,the number of elderly people moving with us is increasing,and the social integration of elderly people moving with us has become an urgent social problem to be solved.The elderly people who are relocated to an unfamiliar living environment are far away from their original familiar living environment,and their body and mind are both in a state of wandering.Not only the change of environment,but also the difference of language and customs,which affects the social memory,make it difficult for them to integrate into urban life.The purpose of this study is to explore the use of group work as an intervention method to promote the social integration of the elderly who have moved to the city.The study uses a combination of documentary research,questionnaire survey and interview method to understand the current situation of integration of the elderly relocated to community B from five dimensions:psychological,family,community,regional and institutional integration,and to analyze the factors affecting the social integration of the elderly relocated to community B from the individual,family,community and social policy levels.In the process of social integration,we found that there are five major needs in interpersonal interaction,cultural adaptation,emotional support,familiarity with the community environment and community care.On the basis of this,we conducted the "Warm City Life" support group for migrant elderly with the guidance of social support theory,socialization theory and activity theory,and the actual situation of the community and migrant elderly.Through this group work,we have been able to promote the integration of the elderly migrants in many aspects.Although social work plays a large role in the social integration of the elderly migrants,social work alone is not enough for the social integration of the elderly migrants,but also requires the attention and support of the elderly migrants themselves,their families,the community and the government.To this end,this paper puts forward the following five suggestions: first,change the solidified thinking;second,enhance intergenerational emotional support;third,actively play the role of the community;fourth,play the comprehensive role of social work;fifth,establish a sound social policy system.
