Nowadays,our higher education is in a state of constant development,and all management work is making steady progress.Under the background of the expanding autonomy of universities,universities alone cannot speed up the pace of development.As a special social group connected with their alma maters,alumni have a deep affection for their alma maters and are an kind of important social capital of their alma mater.Universities hope that alumni can bring valuable resources for running school,while alumni also hope that their alma maters can provide them with career,emotional and material help.This has led to the creation of university alumni associations,which can meet the interests of all.This research aims to explore how university alumni associations can effectively develop resources,and then achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.Firstly,to understand the development process and organizational construction structure of China’s University Alumni Association,this research deeply collates and analyzes the previous relevant research results.On the basis of understanding the related concepts of alumni,alumni associations and alumni resources,the research makes an in-depth analysis of alumni and alumni associations based on public relations theory,human capital theory and social capital theory.Combined with the previous research results and experience,the research compile an interview outline,conduct interviews with the members of the alumni associations,the leaders of the alumni associations and the core staff of the resource development of the alumni associations of three comprehensive universities and three universities with industry characteristics by means of face-to-face interview and telephone interview,in order to understand the current situations of the resource development of the alumni associations of universities in China,and then make a comprehensive and profound analysis of the current work of the alumni associations in China.At present,the specific measures for the construction of university alumni associations in China include: generally build university alumni associations,build alumni organizations in multiple dimensions,broaden social donation channels,take multiple measures to cultivate alumni awareness and improve alumni database.Some achievements have also been made in resource development: the number of alumni resource collaboration projects has increased,the enthusiasm of alumni to feed their alma mater has increased,participation in major events of their alma mater has become the norm,urban alumni economic circles have sprung up,and large-scale alumni activities have become more abundant.At the same time,combined with actual situations of alumni associations,the research analyzes the main problems in the resource development of university alumni associations in China: difficulties in sorting and summarizing alumni resources,lack of resource cooperation platforms,lack of talents and teams for resource development,and single channel and form of resource development.The reasons for the problems are: the cultivation of alumni awareness needs to be strengthened,alumni resources are scattered,the development of alumni organizations is still unbalanced,the guarantee system is not perfect,and the utilitarian tendency of serving alumni is widespread.According to the analysis of existing problems and causes,and based on the mature experience of alumni associations in and outside China,the following strategies are put forward: improve the “continuous and immersive” emotional connection mechanism,establish a “professional and collaborative” organizational working system,improve the "refine and open" resource planning carriers,create "normal and mutually beneficial" key cooperation projects,build "project-based and sharing" alumni economic platforms and "standardized and incentive" institutional guarantee systems.It is hoped that through this research,while enriching the theoretical system of resource development of university alumni associations,new ideas for resource development of university alumni associations will be broadened in practice. |
