Reading literacy is an essential and important ability for citizens to participate in social life,which is of great value and significance for individual growth.Reading test questions are one of the important means to evaluate students’ reading literacy and the scientific validity of reading test questions determines the accuracy of evaluation results.PIRLS,as an international large-scale reading literacy evaluation system,is relatively mature in both theoretical construction and practical operation.Therefore,by referring to the PIRLS reading evaluation concept and evaluation framework,combined with China’s national conditions and age characteristics of students,and then optimize Chinese reading design in primary schools in China.It is helpful to the current reading teaching reform.The subject is divided into four parts.The first part,with the help of literature analysis,grasped the current situation of Chinese reading test design in primary schools in China and the research status of PIRLS project by domestic and foreign scholars,understood the PIPLS reading evaluation framework system in detail,and explored the realistic basis for the optimization of Chinese reading test questions in primary schools.The second part,through the investigation and research method,discussed the shortcomings of the Chinese reading test of the fourth grade in each district of X City in terms of reading texts,reading topics and evaluation standards: the quality of texts needs to be improved;The proportion of reading ability is out of balance;Lack of a rigorous and operational scoring standards.The third part,used text analysis,draw lessons from PIRLS reading assessment framework,design of primary school Chinese reading questions sample,including literature text and informational text reading test,at the same time,distributed reading questions to students,statistics analysis answers specific situation of students,detected of the validity and rationality of the design of the test questions.The fourth part,based on the deficiencies of the current Chinese reading test design of grade four primary school and the analysis of students’ reading test results,puts forward relevant suggestions from the optimization of reading test questions and reading teaching reform.Reading questions optimization related suggestions:carefully choose the reading text;Pay attention to the examination of higher-order ability;Refine the scoring criteria.Suggestions on the reform of reading teaching: carry out reading teaching based on the purpose of appreciation and practicality;A new attempt to reform Chinese reading teaching based on classroom;Guide students to participate in multi-group reading under the communication mode;Use a variety of ways to effectively improve students’ self-reading experience;Emphasis should be placed on the training of teachers’ reading teaching concept and teaching strategies.The study hopes to provide some references for teachers’ reading test questions and reading teaching activities.
