Special post teachers are important part of the rural compulsory education teacher’s group, they have made important contributions to the rural compulsory education of China. As an old revolutionary base area in the new era,Western Anhui needs to retain more special post teachers and try to make them take long-term efforts together,in order to build a high-quality group of rural teachers and realize the revitalization of rural education. However, there are some problems in special post teachers’ retention. They have low sense of identity in their realistic situation, they worry a lot about retaining, they do not have strong desire to retain the post in the local and the long-term retention rate is somehow low.By doing questionnaires, interviewing some teachers and investigating some schools, researchers found the main reasons:heavy workload, complex and diverse career motivation, more career difficulties, lack of planning for career development, few training and learning opportunities, limited space for career development and so on.This study talks about the key factors that affecting the retention and the retention mechanism of special post teachers. And the study suggests that some endogenous supports should be adopted——inheriting revolutionary wills to stimulate endogenous power, joining the old revolutionary base areas to give play to new achievements, integrating into the overall situation of the new era to boost the rural revitalization and learning constantly to update knowledge and ideas;some external supports should be taken——improving the retention mechanism, strengthening the attraction of rural areas, keeping people in multiple ways and building a democratic family.
