In the context of changes in the disease spectrum and the increase in the number of elderly population,China has been faced with a problem in expanded non-healthy groups of people, which further intensifies the workload of nurses.Due to the insufficient number of nurses, however, the supply and demand of nursing services are out of balance, imposing heavier work pressure on nurses.Excessive workload may exert a negative impact on nurses, both on their mental-physical health and the performance of nursing work. Therefore, appropriate methods that aim to relieve work stress of nurses are of significant value for the healthy development of medical and health services in China.During the internship in the Z hospital, social worker found that hospice nurses had great work pressure.Social worker learned that in participatory observation, the purpose of hospice care is to reduce the suffering of patients and help patients pass away peacefully, and advocates not to accept excessive treatment in the end of life.At the same time, social workers were told, the hospice specialist ward usually treats dying patients whose life expectancy is less than 6 months, and the hospice specialist nurses are required to give more patience and confidence to accompany the patients throughout the process. In this process, specialist nurses in hospice care are often exposed to death situations, and nurses in hospice care have greater work pressure.Taking the specialist nurses in hospice care as an example to explore the role of narrative treatment group in relieving nurses’ work stress is representative. This paper starts from the hospice care specialist nurses and tries to explore the role of narrative therapy group work in relieving the work stress of nurses.Interviews were conducted with nurses in the department to understand the current work stress situation of nurses in the department.Social worker selected nurses with severe work pressure as team members according to the results of the work pressure scale. Then through the narrative therapy method,it allows these members to discover their own advantages and complete the process of narrating, externalizing, deconstructing, and re-narrating work stress, thereby relieving their pressure. This study recorded the development process of six group activities, and then reflection and summary are performed on the effectiveness of the service.Based on the research results,it also proposes corresponding suggestions.By compared the work stress score of the service object before the intervention with the score after the intervention,it is found that the narrative treatment group can effectively alleviate the work stress of nurses. However,it is required to make flexible adjustment based on the characteristics of the objects. In addition, factors like the number of group members and the level within the group tend to affect the effect of narrative therapy.
