An Application Research Of Group Work In Hospice Care

With the development of society, the way of people’s life and the disease spectrum has been changed. Thus, patients with advanced cancer in our country has become a huge group, which means that society of hospice care service demand is more and more urgent. In Chinese, medical institutions in part of the cities have started to provide hospice service, but their professional services need to be further improved. Therefore, social workers need to be added to the hospice care service team, to help improve the quality of professional services.In this study, the author attempts to make use of the professional knowledge of social work comprehensively, in order to apply group activities throughout the hospice care services systematically, help members of the group to improve health care skills, to develop healthy social relations, to establish a good support network. During the process of the group, the author evaluated the demands of the members, determined the goals of the group, developed the programme of the group work by the questionnaire survey of advanced cancer patients and their families, and timely adjusted the group’s plans according to the actual effect of group activities and different troubles in different periods of the group work. In the latter part of the group work, the author showed the effectiveness of group service through the process evaluation and effect evaluation and discussed the existing problems in the process of activities from the team members, team worker, group supervision and other different aspects of the study. Finally the author as a graduate trainee of sociol work put forward the model of "G-D-P" to improve the effect of group work in hospice care.
