| In recent years, the number of elderly people in China has been rising, and more and more elderly people choose to go to institutions. However, due to the less attention to the spiritual needs of the elderly in the institutions, the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly is relatively lacking, and they feel lonely in their old age.According to the survey and analysis, the number of senior citizens in F orphanages is high, the idea of old and useless is prevalent, and the experience of loneliness is high, which to a certain extent affects the quality of life and physical and mental health of the elderly and makes it difficult to achieve happy old age. This paper focuses on the loneliness of the elderly in F orphanage as the research object.Firstly, this study used questionnaires and borrowed the UCLA Loneliness Scale to understand the loneliness of the elderly in the institution. The results showed that the average loneliness score of the elderly was 45.6 and the level of loneliness was high, and it was found that the lonely elderly who could not take care of themselves in the orphanage had the highest loneliness score and the longest duration of loneliness.Secondly,semi-structured interviews were used to gain an in-depth understanding of the manifestations and needs of loneliness among the elderly in the institution. The main needs of the elderly included four aspects:emotional relief and emotional care, interpersonal interaction, leisure and recreation, and realization of self-worth,and the loneliness of the elderly was mainly manifested in three aspects:behavior, cognition and emotion. In the main part, the author used the case study method, based on the dominant perspective theory and the social support theory,to study the emotional and social aspects of the case’s loneliness.Firstly, the author established a trusting relationship with the caseworker to understand basic information about the caseworker and to make a problem prediction.Second, the author helped to channel the client’s emotions, then used narrative therapy to sort out the life story with the client, and used anthropomorphic questioning to separate the client from the problem, break the kernel of the problem, deconstruct the problem story, help the client find the shining story and strengths, and finally change the client’s negative identity, prompting the client to change from a passive cultural victim to a dominant person in life.Third, social workers assisted the caseworker to improve her relationship with her son,to bring into play the emotional support resources of relatives for the caseworker, and to strengthen the emotional care for the caseworker.Fourthly, through integrating resources and building a platform, the social worker encouraged the caseworker to actively participate, allowing the caseworker to bring into play his own strengths in interpersonal interactions and activity participation, summarizing and consolidating his own successful experiences,so that the caseworker could turn from a recipient to a helper and move towards a normalized life. The article concludes with a summary of this study, including assessing the effectiveness of the service, summarizing the findings, strengths and weaknesses of this study, and also summarizing the intervention method, the role of social workers in the service process, and the skills.Through the intervention service, the emotional and mother-child relationship of the caseworker was improved, and the potential of the caseworker was also stimulated, selfconfidence and self-identity were enhanced, and the sense of loneliness was alleviated. This study intervened with the caseworker from both psychological and social aspects, and combined narrative therapy with social work services, which is conducive to promoting the development of narrative therapy in the field of geriatric social work. |
