| With the requirements of China’s new round of curriculum reform,biology classroom teaching pays more and more attention to the cultivation of students’ comprehensive ability and core literacy.It pays attention to the cultivation of students’ complete knowledge and core literacy.Moreover,it pays attention to creating interactive classrooms,where teachers and students are eager to participate.In this case,a variety of teaching modes have emerged.BOPPPS teaching model is a student-centered and participation-centered model.It highlights the active interaction between teachers and students.Here,to effectively solve some problems in the biology classroom and encourage students effectively participate in classroom learning,the BOPPPS teaching model was used in high school biology teaching.Firstly,through analysis of the in domestic and international research on BOPPPS teaching model,we found that there were more and more studies and applications of this model in the field of education,but less research was found in high school biology teaching.In this study,based on the concept and theory of the BOPPPS teaching mode,a research background,significance,ideas,and methods were further elaborated.Secondly,questionnaires were distributed to high school students in a city,and teachers were interviewed to understand the current situation of high school biology classroom teaching.The survey results showed that students had a positive attitude towards biology,had the willingness and ability to learn independently,and had a strong desire to participate and communicate in the classroom,but lacked the opportunity to participate in the school.Students believed that biology was complex and wanted more opportunities for inquiry and collaboration in the classroom.In addition,students mostly relied on the learning method of mechanical memory,which was not conducive to students’ learning.Based on the survey results,we explained the strategies and principles for the efficient implementation of the BOPPPS teaching model and designed corresponding teaching cases.The teaching objectives in the BOPPPS teaching model had the characteristics of orientation and were the starting point and ultimate goal of each link.Moreover,each link of the BOPPPS teaching model had the peculiarity of openness,flexibility,and diversity.It also emphasized a combination of teacher-led and student-led.Next,the BOPPPS teaching model was applied to practical teaching.After two months of teaching practice,the teaching effectiveness of the BOPPPS teaching model was examined through test scores,student interviews,and classroom observations.The results showed that the BOPPPS teaching mode had a specific promotion effect on students’ learning attitude,classroom participation and communication,student self-efficacy,learning ability,peer relationship,and the teacher-student relationship.Classroom participation and communication,self-efficacy,learning ability,and peer relationships showed significant improvement.Finally,the following suggestions are made to apply the BOPPPS teaching model in high school biology teaching.First,strengthen the exchange and interactions between teachers and students.Second,paying attention to the flexibility of using the BOPPPS teaching model.Third,enhancing reward mechanisms in the learning process.Fourth,achieving an effective combination of inside and outside in the classroom.Fifth,students’ participation ability needs to be cultivated for a long time. |
