The incidence of college students’ psychological problems has shown a clear upward trend in recent years. The reasons are not only related to actual pressure, but also related to past experiences. The most serious impact is the experience of school bullying.School bullying mostly occurs in primary and secondary schools.Students’ ability to perceive their own emotions and behaviors is weak at this stage,so their psychological problems are not obvious. When faced with the new living environment, interpersonal relationship, and learning mode of the university, past traumatic experiences are motivated to affect their mental health. This thesis studies the impact of college students’ past experiences of campus bullying on their mental health, and analyzes the reasons for its formation. At the same time, from the perspective of ideological and political education guidance, put forward educational countermeasures. It can not only reveal the long-term harm caused by campus bullying to students, give correct psychological adjustment to college students who have been involved in bullying, improve the theory and practice of college mental health education, but also help explore effective ideological and political education paths to prevent and control bullying in primary and secondary schools occurs. This study used the "Past School Bullying Experience Questionnaire",which was adapted from the Smith and Olweus version of the Bullying Behavior Questionnaire, and the "SCL-90 Symptom Self-rating Scale" to investigate the school bullying experience and mental health level of 668 first-year college students in Inner Mongolia. Then select the students who have experience of school bullying and the score of any one or more factors of the "SCL-90 Symptom Self-rating Scale" test result is greater than 2 points(indicating that there are mental health problems in this area)for this interview. The study is divided into two parts: the first part uses quantitative research to analyze the impact of school bullying experience on college students’ mental health.Nearly one-fifth of students have experienced school bullying, and the incidence is the highest in primary school. The most common type of bullying is verbal bullying, and bullying occurs most often in the classroom.Male classmates often commit bullying. After experiencing bullying, more students choose to talk to friends than to teachers and parents. There are significant differences in gender, family economic situation and bullying situation.Boys are more likely to be bullied than girls.Families with poor economic conditions are vulnerable to school bullying. The experience of bullying will cause significant changes in their mental health levels such as somatization.Specifically, verbal bullying will affect students in somatization, anxiety, fear, and paranoia;relationship bullying affects students in obsessive-compulsive symptoms and interpersonal sensitivity;being bullied in the classroom will affect students in terms of interpersonal sensitivity;being bullied in the dormitory will affect the bullied person in terms of terror;the gender and number of bullying objects will affect the bullying person in terms of depression and terror. The second part uses the self-edited interview outline to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews with 8 college students who have experience of campus bullying and mental health problems, and use the grounded theory in the qualitative research method to qualitatively analyze the interview data.A developmental process model of the impact of school bullying experience on college students’ mental health, which shows that:(1)Internal and external factors of bullying act together to cause bullying.(2)The level of severe bullying stimulates students to have obvious adverse reactions.(3)Inappropriate intervention methods make the level of bullying aggravated.(4)External factors of bullying affect the implementation of intervention methods.(5)All the links act together in the whole development process, and eventually lead to the occurrence of mental health problems. Finally, according to the above research results, this study proposes countermeasures to prevent and treat school bullying from two aspects: family and school. In terms of family, form correct parenting methods to cultivate children’s self-esteem and self-confidence personality;carefully observe children’s daily emotions and behavior to enhance their awareness of the dangers of bullying;learn to communicate with empathy and create a warm family atmosphere. In terms of schools,it attaches great importance to campus bullying and creates a harmonious and civilized school spirit;enhances the effectiveness of ideological and political education, and cultivates students’ anti-bullying awareness;enhances teachers’ moral responsibility and gives play to the backbone of class teachers;pays attention to mental health education and cares for students’ healthy growth.
