Loss And Pursuit:A Study Of The Identity Of College Students Lying Flat

The issue of identity identification among college students has always been a focus of attention,but current research mainly focuses on official narrative discourse aimed at administrative management,lacking a perspective on the construction of student identity.Due to factors such as reality shock,role transformation,and diploma decoupling,college students have developed identity crisis and spontaneously seek solutions to their subjective anxiety.The explosive trend of lying flat caters to people’s current psychological needs to reduce anxiety and release pressure.This paper uses the methods of online ethnography and semi-structured interviews,selects the Douban "985 Waste Introduction Plan" group as the field,and takes college students who self identify as lying flat in the group as the research objects.Conduct about 6 months of field observation in the group,during which a field diary of approximately 80000 words was formed;In order to make up for the lack of online ethnography,we released recruitment posts in the group and selected suitable group members for semi-structured interviews as supplementary materials.The research found that by combing the development process of the word "lying flat",and according to the data obtained by the interviewees in interviews and online ethnography,the classification of lying flat is defined as three types:"helpless" resistance type lying flat,"meaningless" ritual type lying flat,and "happy" swing type lying flat.In the following,the reasons for the identity crisis among students who lie flat are summarized as follows:firstly,the collision and gap between ideals and reality,the unintentional sense of identity obstruction,and self reflection that deviates from mainstream values destroy their self-identity,thereby causing a crisis in self-identity.Secondly,the significant impact of regional and urban-rural differences,competition,and peer pressure inherent in learning itself on students can also affect their sense of belonging to the current group,and the inability to integrate into any group as a"marginal person" prevents them from forming positive distinctions,leading to a crisis of group identity.Finally,the barriers of the social class hindered social mobility,and the pressure brought by social evaluation made the group worse in the crisis of social identity.The author also found that the "985 Waste Import Plan Group" has a positive effect on member identification.Firstly,members re-establish their self-identity through reflection,acceptance,and redefinition of the self,id,and ideal self;Secondly,members break free from their status as "marginal individuals" by joining groups,and use the emotional projection they bring to complete positive differentiation under their relative advantages,reshaping group identity through community resonance;Finally,its tendency towards rationality and mainstream characteristics have been discovered in development,coupled with individuals handling social identity crises through circuitous strategies and a clearer understanding of themselves.Finally,this article also reflects on the identity crisis of university lying flat students and proposes three suggestions.This article believes that for self-identity,the self orientation constructed by taking daily trivial matters as meaning,the construction of life meaning,and the enjoyment of one’s own sense of unconsciousness become good strategies for individuals to creatively respond to their own situations.Set up a "legal deferral period" to leverage the positive role of online communities in group identification,thereby helping them calmly think about their life direction and value choices.The key to social identity is that schools and society should establish a diverse value evaluation system,and all parties should work together to maintain social fairness.
