With the development of social economy, changes in people’s ideological concepts, and the acceleration of an aging society, the elderly no longer need to be limited to material life, and their demand for spiritual and cultural values is becoming increasingly strong. Therefore,it is necessary to create a friendly and good social atmosphere for the elderly, and promote them to obtain a positive elderly care experience through self-help and other assistance.Active aging has become an important issue advocated by society, and communities,as gathering places for elderly people’s lives, are the main places for them to exert their residual heat of "participation".Currently, with the increasing aging population in our country, the focus of elderly work is gradually shifting from material needs to spiritual needs. At the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,China made it a national strategy to actively respond to the aging population, which reflects that the government is also actively seeking the development and transformation of aging work.As a strategic and guiding theory, active aging emphasizes that the elderly population is a valuable but neglected social resource, and they can still create social wealth and make positive contributions to social development. This study selected Jinan City, the capital city of Shandong Province, and used L Community as an example to collect data on the current situation, needs assessment, and results evaluation of elderly community participation using semi-structured interview and non participatory observation methods. At each stage of the activity, observe the community participation status of elderly interviewees in the target community as a supplement to the interview method and increase understanding of the service recipients. In the stage of group intervention, group dynamics theory is used, emphasizing the setting of group goals and the creation of group atmosphere,in order to enable members to establish mutual support and promotion relationships in the group, empower the elderly group, mobilize their enthusiasm for participating in social organizations in the future, stimulate the internal vitality of elderly social organizations, and promote the sustainable development of elderly social organizations. This study investigated the specific situation and difficulties faced by elderly people in community participation in L community, and found that elderly people have characteristics such as unclear self-awareness of self advantages, low sense of community participation significance, and insufficient community participation ability. In this study, professional methods of group work were used to intervene and explore the role of group work in assisting elderly community participation from the perspective of active aging. The group conducted six activities, linking multiple resources, with the three main goals of discovering their own community participation advantages, enhancing community participation vision, and participation ability,to optimize the participation status of elderly people in L community. The results showed that group work effectively promoted the elderly to have a clear understanding of themselves and their group advantages, significantly enhanced their sense of community significance, enhanced their ability to participate in the community, and provided practical experience for the development of community elderly work, promoting the efficient integration of positive aging theory and social work practice.Based on the experience of international elderly work, propose strategies and suggestions for optimizing community participation of young elderly people in China from three levels:individual, community, and society,to help promote the development of active aging and promote the formation of a society where elderly people are happy and productive.
