With the process of popularization of higher education in China,the number of college students graduating every year is increasing,and at the same time,affected by the severe employment environment and the overall expansion of master’s students,more and more college students choose to enter graduate school.However,due to the increasing requirements of social development for talents,the increasingly fierce competition for postgraduate entrance examinations and the gradual influence of college students’ choice of postgraduate entrance examination by their family’ s economic and cultural capital,family factors are more involved in the choice of college students,and this study will also focus on three aspects: college students’ willingness to enter graduate school,choice of graduate school entrance examination and choice of graduate major.Therefore,this study relates the three choices of graduate school entrance examination with family capital,and attempts to explore the influence of family economic and cultural capital on college students’ choice of graduate school entrance examination through questionnaire and interview,and puts forward feasible suggestions on how to promote the rational choice of college students to enter graduate school on this basis.This study uses the method of combining quantitative and qualitative research,based on Bourdieu’ s social capital theory and rational choice theory,combines family economic capital and family cultural capital to construct family economic-cultural capital,and conducts in-depth analysis of how family economic-cultural capital affects college students’ postgraduate admission choices through descriptive analysis,correlation analysis,difference analysis and model establishment,supplemented by interview texts.The questionnaire respondents in this paper were collected through the Internet,and the respondents were widely distributed,575 questionnaires were released and 541 valid questionnaires were screened,and 17 respondents were stratified according to the type of institution for in-depth interviews,and the data and interview text analysis were obtained:The analysis of differences found that there were gender differences in the choice of college students,and male students were more active than female students in the three aspects of graduate school entrance examination.Compared with rural students,urban students are more active in choosing the three aspects of postgraduate entrance examination.Compared with other types of colleges,"2 1 1 " engineering colleges are more active in choosing three aspects of postgraduate entrance examination;The difference in majors,natural science is more active than other majors in the three aspects of graduate school entrance examination.Through correlation and regression analysis,it is found that:(1)There is a significant positive correlation between household economic and cultural capital and college students’ choice of graduate school entrance examination.(2)Parents’ reading time and parent-child communication between parents and children in the embodied family-cultural capital have a positive impact on college students’ choice of graduate school.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between family car property and real estate and college students’ choice of graduate school in the concretized family economic and cultural capital;The frequency of participation in cultural activities was significantly positively correlated with the choice of college students.The amount and type of books collected by families were significantly negatively correlated with the choice of college students to enter graduate school.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between the annual household economic income in institutionalized family-cultural capital and the choice of college students to enter graduate school;There was a significant negative correlation between the main source of household income and the choice of college students to enter graduate school.There was a significant positive correlation between parents’ highest education and college students’ choice of graduate school.There was a significant negative correlation between parents’ occupation and college students’ choice of graduate school.Through the above research,the article finally puts forward several feasible suggestions on how to promote college students’ rational choice of postgraduate entrance examination: actively carry out parent-child exchanges and give reasonable suggestions to children;Actively participate in cultural activities to expand their children’s personal world;Create a family reading atmosphere and set an excellent example;Dialectically treat family economy-cultural capital,and improve their own ability;Fully understand yourself and make clear choices and plans.
