A Study On The Impact Of The Digital Economy On Labor Employment

The report of The 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposes to "implement the employment priority strategy,strengthen the employment priority policy,improve the employment public service system,strengthen the employment support for the disadvantaged groups,and eliminate unreasonable restrictions and employment discrimination that affect equal employment,so that everyone can have the opportunity to realize their own development through diligent work".Employment of labor is a natural and inherent proposition in modern economic and social development: on the one hand,labor is the main determining force in productivity and the most creative element in production activities,and economic development and social progress are inseparable from labor;on the other hand,labor remuneration is the main way for labor to obtain economic resources at present,and employment is the main way for labor to survive,develop and realize the value of life.Therefore,labor employment is very important to economic and social development as well as personal development.From the national level,China is a socialist country,and for a socialist country,people’s livelihood is the top priority,and employment is the basis of people’s livelihood.Therefore,employment is the top priority for China,and only by doing a good job in employment can we benefit the people and achieve common prosperity.The digital economy is a new economic form following the agricultural and industrial economies.The emergence of the digital economy has changed the way humans produce and live,thus having a profound impact on labor employment.The digital economy is the mainstream form of current economic development,coming along with the fourth industrial revolution,yet overturning the previous forms of industrial revolution and bringing humanity into the digital age.The digital economy has injected new power sources into the economy and society,and the application of digital technology has greatly improved production efficiency,brought convenience to people’s lives,and propelled the economy and society into a new round of development.At present,China’s employment is under great pressure,and the development of digital economy may bring a new turn to labor employment.For this reason,this paper composes the research results of previous authors and analyzes the impact of digital economy on labor employment on this basis.The digital economy is based on digital technology.Marx discussed as early as in Capital that technological progress would bring about economic growth and the impact on labor employment,and later Marxist scholars as well as Western economists have also discussed the impact of technological progress on labor employment.This paper first analyzes the development of digital economy and the current situation of labor employment in China,then discusses the total and structural effects of digital economy on labor employment based on the relevant theories of Marxist political economy,while drawing on the relevant employment theories of Western economics,and uses a fixedeffect model to empirically test the effects of China’s digital economy development on the total labor and the employment structure of labor in three industries as well as the structure of skills and education.The impact of the digital economy on the total labor and the employment structure of the three industries of the labor as well as the structure of skills and education is empirically examined using a fixed-effect model.The results of the study found that there are positive and negative effects of digital economy on labor force employment in total.In the short term,the negative effects are larger,while the positive effects will exceed the negative effects in the long run.Theoretically,the development of digital economy will optimize the employment structure.From the empirical test results,the impact of digital economy on the employment structure of three industries is consistent with the theoretical analysis,while there is a little deviation in the skill and education structure.The empirical results show that digital economy aggravates the polarization phenomenon of labor force employment in China,but the existence of such results is reasonable in the light of the actual national conditions in China.Based on the appeal analysis,this paper puts forward the corresponding policy suggestions in order to provide some references for the current and future realization of high-quality employment of China’s labor force in the context of digital economy.
