Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party and the state have put forward a series of new requirements for education, taking moral cultivation as the fundamental task of education. In this context,in March 2022,the Ministry of Education issued a compulsory education curriculum program and 16 curriculum standards(2022 edition),with the curriculum concept of cultivating students’ core literacy as the main thread running through the 2022 edition. The rapid development of information technology has accelerated the integration of real space and virtual space, forming a new information technology ecosystem.Virtual reality technology based on a variety of information technology is increasingly applied to the field of education and teaching, from virtual simulation campuses to virtual experiments and virtual classrooms,VR technology provides new teaching ideas for subject teaching. The science curriculum,as a basic course of compulsory education, plays an important role in cultivating students’ scientific concepts, scientific thinking, attitude responsibility, and inquiry practice, and is also conducive to the formation of a knowledge system as well as the mastery of knowledge acquisition methods based on the observation of natural phenomena and the discovery of natural laws, laying a good foundation for the study of physics, chemistry, biology, and other disciplines. The 2022 edition of the curriculum further emphasizes "advocating diverse learning styles based on inquiry and practice",but for practical reasons such as time and space constraints and site constraints, practical inquiry sessions often do not yield good results. However, practical investigations often do not yield good results for practical reasons such as time and space constraints and space limitations. The concept of blended learning combines the real classroom with the virtual classroom so that the advantages of both online and offline teaching modes can be complemented. Therefore, the blended learning model is used to introduce virtual reality technology into primary school science classroom teaching, and virtual reality teaching resources are developed in the hope that students can better experience the classroom content in the virtual classroom and achieve good teaching results. This paper firstly elaborates on the background of the study, the significance of the study, and the current situation of the application of virtual reality technology in education at home and abroad.Based on embodied cognitive theory, constructivist theory, and contextual learning theory, the characteristics and development of virtual reality technology, its impact on the educational field, and its application in specific subjects are described.Based on a description of the concept, teaching content, and current teaching situation of the primary school Science curriculum, the adaptation of VR technology applied to primary school science teaching is analyzed using two main research methods:the literature research method and the case study method.Combined with a comparative analysis of three teaching modes guided by the concept of blended learning teaching,a teaching mode combining traditional classroom and virtual classroom was adopted to design the teaching of "The Life of Plants" under Primary Science Grade 3,and teaching resources were designed and developed using the Unreal Engin4 engine. To better obtain feedback and optimization suggestions on the application of VR technology in the science classroom,a questionnaire survey was taken to 52 students who participated in the experience in an experimental primary school.According to the results obtained, virtual reality technology entering the primary school science classroom can give students a good learning experience and mobilize their interest in learning.
