The 21 st century is an era when science technology develops rapidly.Scientific knowledge and literacy are closely related to the development of a country.Science curriculum in school is the main way for the public to systematically learn scientific knowledge, thus its instructional quality determines the formation of national scientific literacy.Although the science curriculum in our country is now maturely developed, but there are still some problems in instructional methods and resources.Besides,"using the information technology to assist instruction" is one of the main research directions in the field of educational technology, which has also long been the focus of educational researchers.Educational researchers are dedicated to exploring new educational technologies and tools, and applying them to instructional practice to promote the development and also improve the quality of education.Based on the background, this study introduces the technology of immersive virtual reality(VR)into the instructional practice of primary school's science curriculum, and researches the aspects of instructional environment, instructional processes and instructional evaluation.Supported by the activity theory,McLuhan's media theory and the tower of experience theory,a science class learning model based on the VR technology is designed, and then put into practice and applied to class teaching. This research aims to explore the way to combine the immersive VR technology with primary school's science class, and evaluate its effects on students' learning motivation and outcome, thus promoting the students' scientific thinking training and learning enhancement. On the basis of the above research objectives, this study is carried out from the following four aspects:(1)On the basis of the activity theory,McLuhan's media theory and the tower of experience theory,an instructional design model based on the VR technology is proposed, and the guidance of activity theory for the instructional design is lucubrated.(2)The research introduces the immersive VR technology, analyses the characteristics of the VR technology-supported instructional activities, and puts forward an instructional design model based on the VR technology.(3)On the basis of relevant theories and guided by the learning activity mode of the immersive VR,instructional cases within the primary school science curriculum are designed.(4)Research of instructional practice is carried out to explore the effects of the VR-based instructional cases and the feedbacks from teachers and students. The instructional experiments are implemented in pilot school.By analyzing research data of experimental group and control group, the influence of the VR technology-based teaching process on students' learning motivation and learning effects compared with the traditional instructional method is evaluated, and the feedback and evaluation of students on the VR equipment and the VR-based class teaching method are investigated through questionnaires.Through the instructional experiment and research data analysis, this study discovers:(1)Immersive VR-based science class teaching can stimulate students' learning interest, and has a positive effect in improving the students' learning motivation.(2)The immersive VR-based learning activities can improve students' academic performance and assist students in better grasping scientific knowledge.(3)Students have a high opinion of immersive VR class teaching, and compared with the traditional class, students prefer and are more willing to participate in the immersive VR-based class learning..
