Research On The Relief Of Work Stress Of Disabled Elderly Care Workers Through Group Work Interventio

Currently,China is experiencing an accelerating population aging,and the elderly problem is becoming increasingly serious.As the elderly age,various diseases caused by the aging of the body have a great impact on their lives and health,among which the elderly with disabilities are the most serious.Caregivers for the disabled are the staff who provide direct services to the disabled elderly,and they play an important role in the quality of elderly care services.However,there is a serious shortage of caregivers for the disabled elderly,who not only take care of many elderly people,work with high intensity,but also face problems such as social prejudice,which will be extremely harmful to their body and mind,and will also reduce the efficiency and quality of service.Therefore,studying the work stress relief of caregivers of the disabled elderly is crucial to the high-quality development of elderly services in China.In this paper,the caregivers of the disabled elderly in D nursing home were used to conduct a study on work stress relief by adopting a group work approach.The research data were collected through participant observation method,interview method and scale method to organize and analyze the current situation of work stress of caregivers of the disabled elderly,and concluded that the stress of caregivers of the disabled elderly is manifested in both physical and psychological aspects.Using enrichment theory,social support theory,and cognitive-behavioral theory,the causes of work stress among caregivers of the disabled elderly were analyzed,mainly in terms of declining physical function,inadequate work skills,high workload and intensity,inadequate institutional training system,lack of social support network,and low recognition.Through specific cause analysis,six group members were recruited from survey respondents with high levels of work stress to conduct seven group activities such as recognizing and venting stress,enhancing work and personal competencies,and building social support networks,and to conduct process and outcome assessments at the end of the group activities.The evaluation found that the work stress of group members decreased,indicating the effectiveness of group work interventions for caregivers of the disabled elderly.Finally,a summary of the practical process of group work intervention is presented,and the design of group activities,the integration of theory and practice,the number of people and time of group conduct,and the methods of social work intervention are reflected upon.And we propose suggestions to alleviate the work pressure of elderly caregivers from four aspects: government,elderly care institutions,elderly caregivers,and social workers,to raise the importance of the work pressure of elderly caregivers in the future.
