Children are the future of the country and the people’s hope.At present, the number of left-behind children in rural areas is huge, especially in Guizhou province, and left-behind children have always been a focus group of all fields of society.Children’s physical health is related to social development, and a good hygiene habit is not only an important indicator of good health, but also the basic requirements of children’s individual development.Village P is a remote village in Gaopo Township,Huaxi District,Guiyang City,Guizhou Province, with permanent resident population 893,420 children aged 16 and under, and 146 left-behind children.During the internship, the author found that the left-behind children in the village generally had bad hygiene habits, which seriously affected the normal life of these left-behind children.Bad hygiene habits were not only detrimental to the physical and mental health development of the children, but also not conducive to the governance of rural communities. On the basis of the field survey of village P and literature analysis, the author took root in P village for a long time to conduct social work practice research.During this period, the author employed the interview and observation method to fully collect data, understand and analyze the overall situation of village P,the problems and causes of left-behind children, the problems and causes of poor hygiene habits, and then evaluate the needs of children for improving hygiene habits. On this basis, group dynamics theory and social learning theory were used to comprehensively evaluate left-behind children needs in improving hygiene habits,so that group work was carried out to intervene in the improvement of hygiene habits of left-behind children in village P.In the process of group work,it has four stages for group establishment: the early stage, the middle stage, the mature stage and the later stage. From the establishment of team members to the realization of group goals,a total of seven group activities were carried out,and continuous reflection was made in the process of group activities,on the basis of which suggestions for the formation and improvement of the hygiene habits of left-behind children in rural areas were summarized. It can be thus inferred that group work had a relatively significant effect in improving the hygiene habits of rural left-behind children in China, which provided a good demonstration for the improvement of hygiene habits of left-behind children, and also confirmed the necessity and feasibility of social work intervention in the improvement of hygiene habits of rural left-behind children.Nevertheless,in the process of group practice, attention should be focused on resources integration from different parties such as families, communities, schools, and social workers to ensure the continuity of service effectiveness.
