Along with the rapid progress of the economy and the increasing number of elderly people,the family size of our society is gradually changing,with smaller family size and core family structure,children choose to live separately from both parents after marriage,and the empty nesting of the elderly is becoming a trend.The elderly living alone not only have the common characteristics of the general elderly,but also may have special problems such as high risk of life and health safety,psychological and mental health problems,and low social participation,etc.They have a strong dependence on and more urgent demand for social elderly care services,and need to draw wide attention from the society.This study focuses on an urban elderly living alone group,and adopts a qualitative research method to select an elderly living alone in S community in Suzhou City who faces multiple difficulties as the research object.By applying case work,a professional social work method,we help the study participants to link and coordinate social resources,reconstruct their social support network,and improve their ability to solve problems and escape from difficulties on their own.The study found that the needs of elderly people living alone in their homes are complex and diverse,and the traditional community care model cannot precisely meet their multiple needs,while the service model of case management shows unique advantages in the field of aging in place.At the same time,it can explore the potential and strengths of the elderly living alone,emphasize their own abilities and resources,and consciously cultivate and enhance the ability of the elderly living alone to mobilize and utilize their own resources. |
